Man Charged With Drunk (Horse Drawn) Carriage Driving
<snip>

THE driver of a horse-drawn carriage was nearly four times over the alcohol limit when his coach keeled over, injuring three of his passengers, German police said.

The 52-year-old driver lost control of the carriage, which was being pulled by two horses, at a bend near Glaubitz, eastern Germany.

It careered off the road and overturned, injuring three men aged 79, 77 and 70, two of them seriously. Two other passengers were unhurt, and the horses escaped without apparent injury.

The coachman was found to have a blood-alcohol concentration of 1.93 (parts per thousand). The legal limit in Germany is 0.5.

He has since been charged with reckless driving and three counts of causing injury by negligence, a police spokesman said.

1. I've been missing NPRs Bob Edwards in the morning
with his 'off-the-wall' lead stories which were usually humorous.

You have my vote as a good replacement.

4. Near New Philidelphia Ohio, there are a lot of Amish...and there
was a Dateline story about how all these Amish kids are getting into trouble with drugs and alcohol...more proof that religious conservatism makes people do the opposite of what they're supposed to.

failure.
