? suggestions for inexpensive lodging near Disneyland ?

A family member needs info on inexpensive lodging near Disneyland for June. I know this is probably an impossible quest, but thought I would ask for suggestions from DU-ers in that locale. Couple of nights, two adults-two pre-teen kids.

Something non-traditional would even be acceptable, such as college dorm or lodging in someone's home. These people have impeccable credentials.

What are you looking to spend and when? Do you camp?

How far away can it be? Do they have transportation?

2. Motel 6, Best Western are two good options

Plus there are about a million clean, decent non-chain motels w/in a 5-mile radius of the park. I don't think it's impossible at all.

I suggest you send your relative to one of the major travel sites, like expedia or even hotels.com. I daresay they can find rooms near the park for $50-$60 per night.

3. good old DU...

The last week in June. They'll have a car. We assumed it would be too hot to camp, although that's something to consider. They're thinking two days at the park, so either two or three nights, probably.

The cheaper the better. She's a mid-life grad student, he's a music teacher and opera singer (chorus). She has to be in the area for a convention and this is the kids' only chance to see Disneyland, probably.

4. OK tell you what

There are places that are in the range of 60- 70$ but they can use a rollaway bed or two and one room. They are within a couple miles of the park and some actually have shuttle service to the park which saves them parking while at the park...is that in the range?

Is her convention at the convention center? If you tell me where that is I can look in that area as well. The convention center is right across the street from Disneyland but if her convention is elsewhere, that might be the place to look for a room. 6. Check out this website

They promote heavily through the Las Vegas newspapers, mailers and even the school system. We just booked a 4-night, 5-day stay at a Best Western across the sreet. Total cost for the hotel, 3 adult 5-day Resort Hopper passes and one child 5-day RH pass was only $700 (we're driving there, so no airfare).

On edit: oh, yeah - there's a shuttle from the hotel to the main gate at Disneyland for only $3 per day ROUND TRIP. Kids under 9 are free. You don't have to worry about parking with that option.
