| Internet Virus Outbreak - Personal Update |
|
All,
After getting hit with the equivalent of a Denial of Service attack on my database (I wasn't infected), I decided to try myNetWatchman.
I first loaded WallWatcher to look at the hits on my firewall. Pretty wild. TONS of virus hits that were being dropped.
Next I loaded myNetWatchman. This is a piece of software that reports suspicious packets from my firewall to a central database tracking virus activity. These folks then look into the reports I sent, compare them to others received from other "agents", then send out a notice to the offending IP address owner's ISP alerting them to an infected PC on their network.
I started this three days ago. So far today I have one suspicious packet on the firewall. Two days ago I had over 50 in the same period.
Later, JM
