Great comeback line...
I watched "My Fellow Americans" last night...What a hilarious movie!

In one scene, a woman tells James Garner (portraying a democratic ex-president) that she's "sorry we didn't vote for you...We're republicans."

To which he replies, "Well at least you can admit it. That's the first step toward recovery."

I love it!!!

1. What a great line!
LOL!

Usually, when someone tells me they're a Republican, I look concerned andtell them "Oh, I'm sorry." I say it like they just told me they have cancer. It throws them off or makes them laugh.

4. Not even remotely a Democrat, IIRC
Yes, I love that movie. It is a classic.

5. Hmmm...Was Jack Lemmon a democrat?
It struck me as ironic that they were working together to prove that republican President Haney was a criminal; and that the shrub-like Vice President was even more guilty...

6. Good film!

I saw it on HBO about five-and-a-half years ago--on the day my father died, no less! Suffice it to say, I needed a good laugh, and the film delivered.
