Guitar players: You're favorite song to play?
I love, love, love playing any early Ozzy Osbourne. "Mr. Crowley" would probably be my absolute favorite.

What about you guys?

1. Possibly...."See Me, Feel Me"
There are a few Radiohead songs that are a lot of fun to play, like "The Bends".

And I guess I'll throw in "Divine Intervention" by Matthew Sweet.

I can approximate all of SRV's songs, but to play them with the skill and passion that he did, I hope I live so long.

10. Most of what I play these days..
..I play a lot of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Dylan...folky/country western stuff. Thats what I enjoy these days and I don't play many of those songs with more than 4 chords.
I guess I would have to say...Mama tried, Cry Cry Cry and Some of Shelley's blues (Nesmith) are the ones that I have been having fun playing and singing lately.

I bet you can play more than that on your wonderful new geetar!

I only play songs I wrote on guitar. There are always too many guitar players, that's why I'm a drummer.

ps I did start my own thread, several of them so there! ;)

43. one was about how desperately I needed a drink
after going to see the Pirates (lose) with my kid's school. Middle schoolers screamed incessantly behind us until my head was splitting and I was climbed over about 500 times! Otherwise it was a beautiful day and fun. YOu don't have kids, do you? You are pretty young yet, no? I waited until I was out of grad school. They are wonderful, but a bit of work. And you can expose them to cool music!

Our Pirates are in sad shape. But they did beat your Reds one day last week! Well, once. :)

13. "Uncle Pen" is a great acoustic guitar tune (key of G, please)
If it's an electric, I favor "Born On The Bayou" by CCR or "The Spy" from The Doors. And someday I will figure out the lead part to "Mr. Soul!"

16. Lately it's been Blue Sky
by the Allman Bros. E major is one of my favorite keys and I love Dickey Betts's style. Only wish I had another guitarist to trade off on and harmonize with on that one. Sometimes it sucks being in a 3 peice.

17. "Who are You?" By you know Who.
I especially love the acoustic solo part- damned hard to play but when it works, it works!

Second favorite has to be Kenny Burrell's "Chitlins con Carne." Smooth, especially on my Les Paul.

21. "Yoyager" by Gamma (Ronnie Montrose)
...considered one of the most talented guitar players and difficult human beings on the planet.

I always loved the album cover too:

He did a Gamma reunion album in 2000 and has released nothing since.

22. since my skills are limited, I like to play mostly songs I can sing to
"Dark Chocolate" is probably my fave among those; then there's "Quarter Moon" and "Regretting What I Said." The only songs that I don't sing to and I play very well -- well enough not to embarrass myself in a small gathering -- are "Double Eagle" and "Blackbird."

followed by "Personality Crisis" (for trashy teenage kicks fix)
and always... "Knocking On Heaven's Door" turned up to Crazy Horse volume is very fun to play (but it becomes very tedious to listen to anyone else do the same)

32. SRV - The Worst Place I've Ever Been.
Heartbreaker and Babe I'm Gonna Leave You by Zep, The Reaper by BOC, Crazy Train by Ozzie, Enter Sandman by Metallica, Radar Love by Golden Earring, Freebird by Skynyrd, La Grange by ZZ Top, Somebody To Love by Jefferson Airplane, Couldn't Stand The Weather and any songs by SRV are also fun.

These tunes are a blast if you have a tight band that can pull them off effectively.

Love playing the tune especially if the background vocals and guitar are right. The little acoustic leads are a lot of fun and the slow clean opening during Falling in and out of Love(Album version) at the beginning.
Another two, China grove and Suite Judy Blue Eyes (open tuning)
