Robins are the Prussians of the Bird World
Edited on Sun Apr-25-04 08:13 PM by The Lone Liberal
Over the last eight years a Robin has claimed my back yard as his territory. He is fatter than Sidney Greenstreet, and struts around with his red breast thrown out like some overly proud Prussian general. He is now accompanied by siblings and a harem which is nesting in most of my trees. One female in particular is of interest because she is nesting out on a limb of a lobylolly pine, which waves madly in the Oklahoma wind. I watched her the other day and wondered if she became sea sick with all that bobbing around.

Oh, yes one other bird story, the other day I was resting on the patio when I heard what sound like Buddy Rich gone mad. I looked around and there on the pine was a Hispaniola Woodpecker , they are not common around here. Small sucker to be making the noise he was making.

1. We get a different species of Woody Woodpecker around here.
But they make tons of noise for their size. They like my lilac bush.
