My sister, the freeper, is getting a bengal kitten
and paying $500.00 for it! She says she went to the Humane Society and they had NO kittens at all, only full grown cats. She wants a kitten though. She had 2 mutt type cats but one died several weeks ago and she wants a new kitten as a replacement.

She also is taking off on a cruise on Monday but isn't excited yet because it's not close enough to get excited.

I love her but she blows my mind sometimes!

2. I know they're beautiful
but 500.00? That seems quite abit of money to spend on a kitten especially knowing her. If the cat doesn't have exactly the same temperament as her deceased kitty has, she'll tolerate him and keep him but she won't love him like she did the other one.

3. I think they're gorgeous too.
But If I had a choice between a gorgeous bengal with a nasty streak and a sweet tempered mutt-cat, I'd pick the mutt everytime.

However, there's nothing saying will be anything but sweet as well. Even if it doesn't have the same temperment as her previous, it's possible it'll snuggle into her heart regardless.

Best wishes.

4. Bengals are beautiful, but I have always made it a point to have
mutt cats. There are too many breeders who mistreat or neglect their animals, and I don't want to add to that kind of thing. Besides, there are just too many abandoned animals as it is.

Not adopting a grown cat, to me, is like wanting to adopt a child, but only if you can get a baby, leaving the older kids, who are old enough to know their missing something, out in the cold. Just not right to me.

5. Geez, must be nice
to have 500 clams to blow on a kitten! Having just gotten laid off, I don't even have the dough to get the kid the spring and summer clothes he needs. Sheesh.

7. Aren't Bengals usually a little 'wild'??
A wild-tempered breed, and a kitten to boot. Your sister's in for twelve months of pure hell...

8. Oh good!
It serves her right!

I can be mean to her in my own sneaky way. A couple of months ago she had her kitchen redone. They had already installed wood flooring in the great room and to her it made the kitchen look shabby in comparison. They put in new flooring in the kitchen, new granite counter tops, new sink, paint and wallpaper. Every time she'd call to report on the progress, I'd tell her she really needed to go ahead and install new kitchen cabinets because with everything else new she was doing, the cabinets would look really shabby. She kept telling ne no until I got her in a weak moment...so now she also has new kitchen cabinets when there was nothing wrong with the old ones.

9. Yep, a friend had one
managed it for about a month then had to take it back to the breeder. Bengals are hybrids; domestic cats crossed with Asian leopard cats. I also know some people that have about every type of wild cat-from sand cats to Siberian tigers-who say that the ONLY wild cats they can trust with visitors are some of their lynxs, bobcats, servals and caracals. Asian leopard cats are strictly off limits. They even have a Bengal that's caged and inaccesible to visitors, because it's far more dangeous than the lynx, etc!

10. That's interesting to know
since she and hubby also have 2 flying squirrels they raised from babyhood. I hope the kitten she gets doesn't harm her other cat, Brandy, since Brandy is getting up in years.

The cat that died was only 6 years old but had some type of chronic lung problem similar to asthma. When she left for work that morning the cat was fine. When her husband came home from work the cat was curled up on the floor dead. At first her husband thought the cat was asleep but when the cat didn't get up and greet him like he normally did, her husband took a closer look and saw the kitty was dead.

11. Well, if she's bound and determined to get a 'semi-wild cat'...
I hope someone else doesn't have to pay the price for her...um...stupidity. (Sorry, I tried to think of a better word but just couldn't.)
