| Funny thing about the Freepers on here.. |
|
...is that the more they are exposed to the ideas we discuss, the more likely they are to adopt some of them. I spent a deal of time with an online community that I was initially opposed to and eventually came around to seeing their logic. Didn't mean that I always agreed with everything, but it made me think and challenge my ideas.
I imagine there is some of that going on with the Freepers who hang out here.

| 1. Absolutely. Maybe the only reason they became freepers... |
|
...in the first place, was because of a lack of information early in life. That, and poor toilet training.

In attempting to undermine us, they are exposing themselves outside of their moribund, doctrinaire, insular environment. An environment that tends to celebrate ignorance and a certain lack of intelligence, I might add.
They get exposed to some true juju, some of it is gonna rub off, except on the ones for whom their affiliation is the only thing that defines them. For those, there are very low expectations.

One of the great things about DU is that we check our sources to make sure information is credible. When someone posts a source that is not credible, even if it supports our position, DUers are all over it and debunk it through research immediately.
When someone posts info that is not credible and is unsubstantiated, the common response is "Link, please".
If freepers investigate the info we post, they find credible info that supports our positions, cannot be debunked, and is difficult to rationally argue with. I have yet to see a debate between a freep and a DUer in which a freep posts credible info to support any genuinely relevant position.
Of course, if a freep is illogical and irrational, there is little we can do other than hope they seek and find an effective therapist.

You should see some of the nonsense posted in 9-11 forum.

| 6. There is some amount of speculation.... |

....but overall, I'd say that we're pretty rigourous critical thinkers on most issues. I mean, when the government is so secretive with information, it's kind of hard not to speculate sometimes.....

the fact their dads made them shoot the family dog, date their cousins, clear the back 40 by hand, and make their own false teeth they may have a chance to learn something. Ahhh who am I kidding those people wouldn't know a fact if it jumped up and slapped um in the face. Hell, they still believe Iraq was involved in 9-11.
