Best wormer for cats.
Hi all, my vets pill for worming my cats cost over $8.00 a pill. I was wondering if there was something that can do the same thing for less?

1. How do you know your cat has worms?
If your vet is checking and using specific vermicides that is probably best for general do it your self veterinary supplies Check out Jefferslivestock.com - not the best website - order a paper catalog, good prices and no shipping on orders over $60.

Other wise why give your pet toxic substances if it is in good health?

2. I've heard that garlic works wonders for ALL critters,
including humans, dogs, and probably cats. I'm not sure whether it has to be raw, chopped or what. However, a Google-search came up with general directions for administering such things to your cat: http://dbhs.wvusd.k12.ca.us/webdocs/Humor/Give-Pill-Cat-Dog.html

Rotsa Ruck!! (I'm not joking about the garlic though)

3. sometimes you get what you pay for
I've been told by numerous people (including those in pet stores themselves) that the cheap stuff you buy in the pet stores can often, at best, be useless and at worst, cause other problems for the cats.

The stuff from the vet is more expensive but a) it does the job well and b) you only need to give the pill one time rather than the pet store cures which require a high number of separate doses which is a pain in your ass plus makes kitty's life much easier too.

Unfortunately, I speak from experience here...and if you have more than 1 cat, make sure you deworm all of them.

Also, get flea treatments for the cat and vacuum etc. The worms generally come from fleas and if you don't get rid of them also, you can be looking at more worms in 1-2 months.
