I threw up some blood yesterday
If it happens again today, should I ask to go home early again even though my bosses already hate me for being so sick?

If it happens again today ...
face your boss when it is happening.

You won't need to ask

Cheers

1. How about going to the doctor???
Not home, you need to get fixed. Do you have an ulcer (sorry if I should know this - but I don't.)

7. I don't have ulcers
I can't go to a doctor--my social security medical plan takes a $150 copay and I currently have a total of $16.00 to my name. Also I lack a car.

3. Get thee to a doctor now!
And get a chest xray. To heck with your bosses, find out what's going on, and don't waste any time.

isn't telling you could kill you." It's a book about raw food dieting and the natural healing process your body goes through after switching your diet.

6. Somtimes, if it's the "dry heaves," you rupture the little blood vessels
and it doesn't amount to too much. If there's a lot of blood, you'd better get yourself checked out. If an ulcer starts bleeding, you can get really sick.

13. It wasn't much blood
I did dry heave a few times before spewing, too.

Could I get sick enough to die, and is it a painful death?

8. Yep, get to the doctor...
Tell your bosses what's going on. You have had a lot going on lately, from what I've seen here in the Lounge. You need to take care of yourself first...

16. Even one of those "rapid-care" places would help...
Plus they're usually a LOT more reasonable than a traditional MD's office. Plus, pullllease ask someone for a ride--if I were there, I'd give you one in a heartbeat! We want you WELL!:D

He can't give me a ride...

I'm gonna go to work, if it happens again I'll see if I can go home and rest, and take some maalox or something.

12. Tucker, please go to the doctor...
And get it looked at...that worries me; I hope you'll be OK.:-(

Oh, and don't worry about how they feel about you being sick...if they value you--and what you do for them--they'll want you to get well. And if they don't...they're nothing but a bunch of cheap S.O.B.s, anyway!

21. You know, it took some time for this to sink in...
...one of the biggest drug store chains in the country doesn't allow their employees sick leave?????

:wtf:

(...and I'm only using that because I can't find a smilie for "pounding one's head against a wall in disbelief at the sheer idiocy found in the universe.")

14. Don't ask, TELL him/her you are leaving to go to a doctor....
Ummmm, AlienGirl, you need to go to a doctor. F*ck what your boss thinks. It may be just an ulcer, which is serious, but it gets even more serious if it is not treated. I'm no doctor, but even I know throwing up blood is no joke.

:( Go to the doctor!

18. You can go to the local
county hospital's emergency room. You may have to wait awhile to be seen but throwing up blood is serious and this is what the county hospitals are there for. Money isn't the issue, dying is.

19. Sorry to hear about this
I know what you say about not being able to go to the dr. Health care doesn' exist for the poor and working poor any longer. I'm seriously beginning to think that it's a way of siphoning off the surplus population, take it as easy as possible, okay.

Vomiting blood is a sign of serious trouble.
