Do you know of any good websites that can tell me how to
buy a car? I've bought many of them, but I've never been good at it. I need to know the ins and outs, etc.

For example: say my new car costs $20,000. My current car is worth $5,000 on trade. Shouldn't the new car cost $15,000? The new car NEVER ends up costing $15,000. How come?

So, do you know of any good sites that can walk me through this? Car Buying for Dummies? I can google websites for this, but I don't want to sift through several hundred thousand sites.

Thanks for your help.

3. great list of car research websites
i agree ... edmunds.com is the best ...

others:

http://autos.msn.com /
http://www.kbb.com /
http://www.carbuyingtips.com /
http://forum.thecarconnection.com /
http://www.autoweb.com /
http://www.consumerreports.org/main/home.jsp?bhfv=7&bhq... (membership required)
http://autonation.com/Corporate/Default.asp?Page=Home

also, check out the april edition of consumer reports magazine ... it's their annual car buying issue ...

btw, my advice re: trading in a used car is: negotiate the best deal you can on the new car WITHOUT mentioning the trade ... then negotiate the trade ...
