"blood type" diet / food allergies
Can anybody recommend a site that can help me figure out if I have some sort of food allergy?

I quit all dairy products last fall, thought it helped my energy level (but not congestion) ... I started up again a month ago, no change in energy, but perhaps more congested.

So I nixed wheat for a week - no change.

Oh, I quit smoking cigarettes in Feb - no change in energy or congestion.

A friend told me about the "blood type" diet last week ... I hardly eat any meat, maybe average a ham sandwich and one large meat (usually fish) serving a week - for the last four days, I've had at least a pound of beef or pork. Don't feel any different.

I'm just figuring there's people here happy to give or point towards advice and I'm happy to listen.

1. Could be seasonal if it's mostly in fall and early spring
and environmental rather than diet. Smokers (especially once they quit) can get sensitive to enviromental allergens which then trigger bronchitis, which if not treated can become pneumonia.

2. It IS Spring...
Airborne allergens are the more likely culprits.

If it's not seasonal, it may be dust or dust mites.

4. Food Allergies Are Like Drug Allergies
Rash, swollen tongue and throat, difficulty breathing, etc. I react the same way to cherries as I do to penicillin. When a true allergy is present, there ain't no doubt about it.

5. try the caveman diet- we are hunter-gatherers by nature.
first of all, you need to give things more time-

"I nixed wheat for a week - no change...for the last four days, I've had at least a pound of beef or pork. Don't feel any different..."

when you make a drastic change to your eating regimen, you should give it a month before deciding how different you feel- your system needs to adapt...and you shouldn't really consider a "diet" to be something you do for a set amount of time, or until you've reached a "goal weight"- a diet should be viwed as the way that you are going to eat from now on.

6. Your allergy could be almost anything... go to an allergist one
SIMPLE blood test now can tell you about most of your allergies.

I had similar difficulties with recurring ear infections/sinus infections.

The allergist identified that I was allergic to milk proteins, wheat, and eggs. Talk about a pain in the arse diet!

Not eating these things helps, but I am still allergic to all the pollens and things.
