On March 29th The All for One Band (so aptly named by Mickey Hart) performed and rocked the house at the John Kerry for President fundraiser in San Francisco at the Westin Saint Francis Hotel. The Democratic event raised 3 million dollars for the candidate.
Roy Rogers opened the show with Walkin' Blues saying "Let's give Bush his walking papers!" as the other band members tore in to the blues classic. Boz Scaggs then led the band in a fine Dylan song"Takes A Lot to Laugh, Takes a Train to Cry." 'Ain't No Bread in the Breadbox ' was performed by Norton Buffalo. Phil Lesh performed "Tom Thumb Blues" and then Boz led the group in a raucous "Johnny Be Good" and "I Feel So Good" and then Mickey brought down the house leading the group with Iko Iko.
What a night! Special thanks go to Mickey Hart and his incredible staff for helping pull this event together.
A national coalition of musicians called Musicians for Kerry is being formed. More news on this soon!
