Poll question: Which kind of Affirmative Action gets a person further ahead?
Edited on Wed Apr-14-04 07:29 PM by Delano
The racial-quota/point-system kind,

OR

the "My dad's a millionaire spymaster alumnus, so gimme my Harvard degree/baseball team/presidency" kind?

I'm talking in the present, real world - not what you favor as an ideal.

1. Since AA gives minorities ALL LINDS of unfair advantages...
...I assume EVERYONE would pick the first...

2. Are you getting the point?
I'm not asking whether you favor AA, but which would you rather have at your disposal personally.

I don't think many people get as far on the first as they do on the second...

3. AA based upon economic status (or lack thereof)
Let the working class in, I say.

This is intended to be the opposite of legacy/donor favors; I'm not looking to flame here.

4. Correction to your second entry....

It should read: "the 'My dad's a millionaire spymaster alumnus, so gimme my Harvard degree/baseball team/presidency/war' kind."

:-)

I'm actually an old-timer with a new identity, but thanks just the same.

9. Unfortunately it is all about who you know and not what you know
and its also about dirty politiking in the office.

I have seen idiots move up just because they know how to gossip.
