Why can't we have a "Bring your Pet to Work" day?
Once again "Bring your child to work" day is soon upon us. I know it's fun to take your child to work for a day so they can see what Mommy & Daddy do. But damnit, it's almost like I want to call off work sick that day because us damn childless folks have to put up with all the kids running all over the placed bored out of their gourds after 15 minutes of work.

So why can't we have "Bring your Pet to work" day? I mean, doesn't Abbott & Evita deserve to see the hard labor of their owner that allows them to live the pampered life in my home? And think how much happier the employees would be with their beloved pets cuddle up on their lap or by their feet, bring a smile to our face as we stress out over our work deadlines.

Who else wants a "Bring your Pet to Work" day!!! I think it's an idea that's long overdue!!!

1. I agree, I don't have any human children, I have a Chihuahua and
he would love to spend the day with me.

Hey is there a website for employers who are pet friendly?

2. Our little Paris, comes to work/school occassionally
Goes shopping, out to dinner, etc., etc. We have a little "bowser bag" that we put her in (legally blonde type). No one even knows, unless she pops her little face out.

5. Yeah, one of my folks brought her miniature Schnauzer in >
and the first thing she did (the Schnauzer, that is) was pee on the floor.

13. She was marking her territory.
My Rottie would rather burst then go in the house. But when she is in strange surroundings, she immediately pees. Embarrasses the hell out of me.

June 25 is "bring your dog to work" day
Edited on Mon Apr-12-04 09:51 AM by DBoon
Here is what I could find from companies that celebrated this in the past:

Personally, I think my dog is better behaved than many people's children.

On Edit:

It is sponsored by Pet Sitters International at:

4. I absolutely detest bring your child to work day and I am a parent
sorry but I do.

I leave my kids at school or daycare where they have far more fun.

At my office they plan a big party and demonstration for all the kids...and it gives them a false impression of what work is about...then they get bored and drive everyone nuts...I am on the phone with clients all day...it doesn't give a good impression when there are kids screaming in the halls.

Last year I worked from home rather than go into the office.

6. Most cats wouldn't want to go
they're too smart to want anything to do with work. However this little fellow on the left is more a dog than a cat and I have the run out in the hall and stall routine every morning when I go to work. He'd like to go with me. I'd just have to type one handed at work while I'm holding him with the other hand, he's clingy.

7. Abbie would go, but I think Evita couldn't be bothered with it
I've taken Abbie with when I volunteer at the Cat Adoption Center at Petsmart and he's made friends there. But Evita is a fussy cat who barely even lets me touch her, I think she would hate it.

BTW, when I take Abbie with me to the Adoption Place, I have to put a sign up that "The big cat on the leash is NOT for adoption" because so many folks think he's just so adorable!!!!

8. No thanks, done it
The boss used to let the manager bring her dog to work, and eventually it would start barking so it got sent out back where it would piss and shit all over the place and get in my way.

It finally stopped when the manager went to lunch, left the dog in her office and it started barking. To stop it one co-worker tried to take it for a walk, it managed to trip her with the leash and she ended up with a broken wrist.

9. Where did I get the silly idea
that the reason I come into the office in the first place is to work? Not to entertain some kid (mine or anyone else's) or put up with some animal? At work here, you can bring in your pet every Friday. It is a huge pain, and socially, one can't speak up against it. At least you can only bring your kid in once a year.

10. Someone would bring Peanut the pit bull
who hates cats and dogs. After Peanut mulls Fluffy the cat and/or Sassy the toy poodle, "bring your pet to work" day would turn into don't bring you animals here or bring your pet but not your pit bull, rottweiler, boxer etc.

12. Well, I'm not alone in this, but...
I'm allergic to cats, dogs, bunnies, dust mites (they're underrated as pets), horses, cows, chickens, and ferrets.

Fish are impracticable as loving pets.

Birds would chew up paper and make little globby messes all over the place... Okay, all the animals would, but the birds would make 'em more quickly...

I don't think the BYPTWD would work out. :-( Nice thought though.

Besides, it's too human. Corporations don't see employees as people; employees are machines to be pushed to 'full power' until they break down.
