I've heard it from The Ed Schultz show just a few minutes ago.

5. It's called "Buy Nothing Day"
The idea is to strike a blow to consumerism. I believe it was started by the Media Foundation, which is the group that puts out the magazine Adbusters. I recommend checking it out if you haven't, although the magazine is often times just a whine fest.

sponsored by Adbusters
