1. Don't expect miracles
I believe they already have a redistricting case or two. I wouldn't expect them to strike this down anyway. After all we have a states rights issue here and voters are still free to vote for anybody they want. As much as I hate this, I suspect Dems have pulled the same trick a time or two.

2. FUCK fuckity fuckfuckfuck
I cannot believe they did this. After DOJ employees testified that they were browbeaten to sign off on the plan and then taken out of the process when they wouldn't comply with the mandates of the rethug political appointees at DOJ.

How could any reasonable human being support what they did with some of those districts. For christ's sake they ran a district from Austin to the border with Mexico just to get rid of Lloyd Doggett.

We are SO fucked.

5. Doggett's running in the safe Dem TX-25
From Roll Call:
In the new 25th district, which stretches from the Austin suburbs to the Mexican border, Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D) has already announced his candidacy and is the frontrunner for the nomination in the strongly Democratic seat.

Doggett’s former 10th district has been made significantly more Republican and is a likely pickup for the GOP.

6. Sadly, it's too late for the SCOTUS
Filing deadline is in ten days (1/16)...there's no way this can be overturned until 2006.

And by then, it's too late. :argh: :argh: :argh:

8. Grrrrrrrrrrrr! Next year, the Dems should start redistricting plans
on a national state-by-state scale.
