If Clinton was so bad at terrorism, as this drunken lush on CSPAN says,
why other than the 1st WTC bombing and OK City bombing, (which doesn't count as foreign terrorism) did we not have any attacks like 9/11 on our soil and we never heard a peep from Saddam in Clinton's 8yrs???????????????? This lady just said Clinton arrested more terrorists than Bush has so far. But it's all Clinton's fault???? WTF

3. last four admins did make mistakes but,
Clinton at least recognized al qaeda as a threat and was focused on them. Bush was even informed of this but still put it on a back burner in favr of missile defense.

4. Clinton TRIED to massively increase budgets for combatting terrorism
enormously and was met at every corner with opposition from the gop congress.

The Former Vice President Al Gore Chaired the 1996 Airline Safety Commission, and the GOP congress again set aside ALL recommendations, which, had they been implemented, would have PREVENTED 9.11. Congressional idiots didn't want to piss off the airline lobbyists.

CLINTON put the perps of the FIRST attack on the WTC IN JAIL and had the perp of OK City PUT TO DEATH.

Bush went and got some heroin and oil for his pals. Thanks george, I feel safer now.

9. How dare he.

How dare he put to death a good ol' rightwing extremist who was outraged forced to acts of violence by the evil actions of the Clinton Administration's forcing Bill's willy on every wholesome, nubile, and God-fearing freeper woman under 250lbs!

18. Tried ? Clinton Tripled the terrorism fighting budget
all the while Clinton was mocked by the
likes of Delay and Lott that bin Laddin
was a non-issue an attempt at distraction
from The Monica Scandel .

Well I put it to you that the repukes were
distracting the commander in Chief from real
threats to America when they went after Clinton
for a blow job . The repukes have put this
country at risk .

6. If only there were as many human casualties under Clinton...
as there were during Reagan, Bush and Bush. If blood isn't being spilled they must be doing something wrong.

8. The gop mantra; " NO PROFIT IN PEACE"... ergo, war, death,
destruction, poverty, drama and crisis.

I miss peace. I miss Clinton. I miss hope...

2. Guess she doesn't know her history...
While Republicans Fought Clinton, Clinton Fought Terrorists.

The Washington Post confirmed, "The Clinton administration ordered the Navy to maintain two Los Angeles-class attack submarines on permanent station in the nearest available waters, enabling the US military to place Tomahawk cruise missiles on any target in Afghanistan within about six hours of receiving the order." See: The Covert Hunt for bin Laden: Broad Effort Launched After '98 Attacks, Barton Gellman, Washington Post, December 19, 2001; Page A01: http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=& contentId=A62725-2001Dec18¬Found=true

President Clinton dedicated himself to neutralizing bin Laden, but Republicans in the Congress thwarted his efforts. Republican Senators like Phil Gramm blocked legislation to freeze Al Qaeda financial assets because special banking interests told them to, and they opposed recommendations to improve airline safety out of deference to the airline lobbyists. Still, the Democrats didn't stop trying to keep Americans safe from terror. The Clinton Administration warned the Taliban that America would hold them personally responsible if Osama bin Laden attacked us. The Washington Post reports:

"Assistant Secretary of State Michael A. Sheehan, the department's counterterrorism coordinator, delivered the new message directly to the Taliban. He telephoned Foreign Minister Ahmed Waqil and read him a formal declaration known as a demarche. 'If bin Laden or any of the organizations affiliated with him attacks the United States or United States interests,' he told Waqil, 'we will hold you, the leadership of the Taliban, personally accountable. Do you understand what I am saying? This is from the highest level of my government you're protecting him, you become responsible for his crimes.'"

Clinton's third-ranking State Department official Thomas Pickering "met with Mullah Ahmed Jalil, Taliban deputy foreign minister told him, as Sheehan had told his boss, that 'people who are helping other people kill Americans are our enemies and should consider themselves as such.'" See: Clinton's War on Terror: The Covert Hunt for bin Laden, Barton Gellman, Washington Post, December 19, 2001; Page A01: http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A62776-2001Dec18?

7. Eight years of Peace and Prosperity
It is their job to make that a myth. They want all to believe we were in horrible shape under President Clinton and Bush* has come along and saved us. I for one aren't buying what they're selling.

...how posters like "nhtfopo" will shoot off one spurious post and then disappear without another word once confronted with some facts. I see this again and again and again. It's very telling.

and my impressions of the lady were the same as yours. I did enjoy how the host didn't let her squirm out of the PNAC thing that one caller brought up,and he also pointed out that it appeared to be true that we allowed a plane of people to leave Afghanistan.

17. Escape from Afghanistan
Our "War on Terror" took a very curious breather before we bombed Tora Bora. Why did we let the Pakistani's and AQ leadership escape via a protected air corridor?

12. Take all the info she had and you can
make the exact opposite case that she did. Does anyone, anywhere in this administration (& all the shills supporting it) accept any responsibility for anything. I honestly cannot think of one good thing that has happened for us and our country (& most other countries) since our government was overthrown by the supreme court.

25. yet somehow, the slack Clinton-era security foiled the LAX bombing ...
In December 1999, someone tried to bring explosives into the US via Port Angeles. They stopped him on the ferry.

There are strong suspicions that US and Canadian intelligence services were involved in tracking him, but didn't spread it all over the media to avoid tipping their hand about their techniques. I notice that Clinton wasn't strutting around taking all the credit -- evidently he put long-term security ahead of polling boosts.
