Thesis: We knew all along Iran wasn't making nukes.
Iran is making deals to sell massive amounts of electricity to Iraq, deals we must be aware of. So they start developing nuclear power plants to meet the demand... but we accuse them of trying to make weapons? Then they agree to snap UN inspections, to prove the point...

What the hey?

1. Nonsense
Iran's nuclear interests are not to provide sworn enemy Iraq with power. Let's get the thinking caps on. (And pray we don't start another war)

7. Of COURSE they are trying to make weapons.
The countries with "Nukular" weapons are the ones with influence in today's world.

What sense does it make for a country sitting on the cheapest source of energy (their OWN oil) to develop something far more expensive? What possible need do they have for nuclear energy?

8. Iran
Iran exports electricity to the Nakhichevan region of Azerbaijan (through Armenia), to the tune of 435.5 million kilowatt-hours per annum. Nakhichevan until recently also imported from Turkey, but were going to discontinue that since they couldn't pay for it. Which is weird, implying that now Iran is going to keep providing free power to Azerbaijan.

But I digress; Iran is seriously in the electricity business. They've got three new dams (built at a cost of $625 million) going on-stream in March. They spend $14.4 million every year on power research projects, they just announced they were going to boost their exports to Afghanistan to 40-50 megawatts, add that to over 20 megawatts of power to Pakistan, 70 megawatts of power to Turkmenistan (who receives 300 million kilowatts per hour of Iranian power annually), and now Iraq...?

9. Behind the scenes...
There is more than we are being told...no doubt.

We know certain weapons can be made from nuclear reaction materials.

We also know that if a country gets nukes they ensure some security for themselves. The UN hopefully will be able to keep us informed as to the progress of Iran's nuclear capabilities.

With these electric supply contracts, there is evidence of capitalism in Iran, which is competition, eh? Maybe efforts to paint Iran as a nuclear threat is nothing more than a way to cut out future competition?

Of course we know 'Our' capitalists will stop at nothing to eliminate competition.

Will we ever know the truth? Not as long as the press remains sold to the highest bidder.

10. Good points
Although it still begs the question: why paint Iran as a country with nuclear weapons ambitions, if you know they're out to make a buck, and if you'll make a few also?

I may be missing a big part of the equation here, I should point out I've only been looking at this for a few days.
