The Runup To The 2004 Election Is Going To Be Like A 12-Round Boxing Match
Between the Democrats and Bush. The 12 rounds equal the 12 months between November 2003 and November 2004.

Each month represents one round, and right now, we're halfway through round 2.

So far I'd say the Democrats won round one - November. They had better media coverage than Bush and Howard Dean really captured attention. Democrats win round one.

Now with Saddam captured, it's pretty much assured that Bush will win this month, and thus, this round. No amount of casualties short of something unbelievable will shake this. Bush is going to have a good month to live off this moment.

The key is January. Once the new year starts we'll have 10 months to make or break this election - and each round is vital.

We must win at least six of these months to have a good chance of beating Bush. Nothing short of him falling off the wagon and slobbering around the State of the Union address in purple leather chaps will help us if Bush is getting great press coverage month-after-month-after-month leading up to the election.

Saddam was a second round lucky punch that knocked the Dems to the canvas. We still have a hell of a long way to go before this eventual contest is decided.

So stay positive and remember that we're running against a guy with a glass jaw - namely, the fact that over 100,000 more people didn't vote for him last year and more new voters are signing up with Democrats (Dean, Kucinich, ect). Factor in Nader probably dropping out late in the election (which I predict he will) and you have a very beatable opponent.

12 Rounds.

Right now the scorecard's even. Don't walk away from your fighter now.
