Who buys that a single post is representative of what all DUers
or Democrats think? When Rush (or anyone) takes a single post and extrapolates from it that that is how all of us or all Democrats think, my first reaction is always, “how stupid are those listeners?”(That is a rhetorical question by the way.)

But seriously, Rush can’t find anyone even in media that publishes the views of the posters he pulls from here. So he reads the opinions of an anonymous poster, who can’t reply or explain himself. It is typical of the way Rush fights, fair is absolutely out of the question. He couldn’t confront his addiction with honesty; he can’t confront any opponent directly. The word for a personality like his is cowardly.

How does anyone know that the posts he uses as an example aren’t authored by him? Or someone with an agenda?

1. Usually
some posts are kind of weird. Those only come in once in a while. But you are right, they are not an accurate representation of the DU community.

Of course it doesn't, but do you really expect him to admit that?
That's the typical Republican attack plan. Take one phrase out of context and claim that it is representative of our party and that all Democrats believe exactly the same things.

Ann Coulter has made a career out of doing just that.

2. republicans do, that's who
they are incapable of grasping the idea that people can think for themselves, and don't need a leader to tell them what to think. Look at all the freeper posts about who is "running" the Democratic party... they talk Bill, Al, Hillary, you name it.

they cannot understand that we do not have a 'leader' in the same sense that they need to have one for themselves

3. Monolithic Democrats
Nyah-h-h, seen one Democrat, seen 'em all! They're so alike even their mothers can't tell them apart. They are pack animals, like cats.

</yep>

4. Who knows the intentions of anonymous posters?
I really cringe when I read some comments on the board. For all I know, they are posted and then e-mailed to Rush to underscore some point he's trying to make.

Not all posters here have our best intentions at heart, IMHO.

But I agree, for Rush to use some posts here when there is no way to attribute or confirm the poster's intent is typical of those whose political arguments are suspect to begin with.

6. Simple answer
People who already know what they want to believe. People who want to say, "Yeah! Just as I thought."

7. I think we should start fighting
fire with fire. I would like to see the liberal and progressive media outlets (the few that there are) aggressively pointing out some of the more outrageous statements made by people at Free Republic and other RW sites, and challenge conservatives to either repudiate those sentiments or have them be tagged as being representative of what conservatives really think. This is just another way that they control the terms of the debate, and the only way to fight them is by turning it around on them. I can assure you that the most outrageous positions espoused on this sight can't hold a candle to the sort of things found on the RW sites.

10. Agreed.....but we do the same thing
We are constantly bombarded with posts from our resident Free Republic monitors letting us know what "they" are thinking. On many occasions it is "taken for granted" that the Freeper posts are representative of Republican thinking.

11. We do that in here. There aren't Democrats who use
their rantings as evidence of how all Republicans think. That may be because we have so many published examples that we don't need to rely on posts, but still we don't do it in public.

There is a huge difference.

12. I should mention
that any posts like that which I have read, always include a DUer or two mentioning that other freeps are disagreeing w/the original freep post...

might not be every time since I don't click on all the freeper-related posts, but the ones I've seen have been very fair

14. Probably lots of repukes buy into it.
Same way many of us sometimes seem to lump all repukes into the same pot.
