Definition of Evil.
From "Arrow's Fall", by Mercedes Lackey.

"....It seems to me that evil is a kind of ultimate greed, a greed that is so all-encompassing that it can never see anything lovely, rare, or precious without wanting to possess it. A greed so total that if it can't possess these things, it will destroy them rather than chance that someone else might have them. And a greed so intense that even having these things never causes it to lessen one iota - the lovely, the rare and the precious never affect it except to make it want them."

Greedy little monsters have stolen our nation. And even in owning it they want more!

1. great quote.
And it's sad that what is precious and rare about our country has in fact been destroyed by these people now in power.

And what's even worse is the spinelessness of the media. And our other elected "leaders" who are supposed to oppose this evil.

I'm of the belief that evil is born, spinelessness is a choice.

If evil triumphs it's because we let it.

2. Sad and true!
I always ask myself, "How much is enough?" The BFEE would answer "You can never own enough!" With the repeal of estate taxes they will establish an aristocracy that will take another civil war to unseat! My childrens very freedom is threatened by the greedy little Bushistas! The hogs want it all!

5. I disagree....sorta
The abscence of empathy would be sociopathic.

Having empathy and ignoring it because it wouldn't benefit you to listen to your empathy would be my definition of evil.

6. That isn't a good definition-
She's just saying that evil is greed. Greed and evil: synonyms? No. Greed may be a component of evil- but it is not the totality.

Evil comprises so many other aspects of human nature and "The Seven Deadly Sins."

One might torture, murder, rape, ethnically cleanse, start wars, commit atrocities for many reasons other than greed. A whole people might commit evil deeds for reasons (where greed may also be a component) for a multitude of other reasons.

It is a component- not the totality.
