If I Had a Gun I'd Shoot My TV Right Now

I'm listening to Nightline in the background after just watching Clark on the Daily Show. As soon as the Daily Show ended Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn comes on and he runs a pic of Bin Laden for about five minutes during his opening monologue.

I switch to CBS but Letterman is coming on late so I go to Nightline only to find a fear fest. Tonight's topic the War on Terra--the growth of Al Qaeda. They've mentioned 9/11 about ten times in the last ten minutes and Al Qaeda more times than that. They're reviewing the old stories about terra training camps--and I'm wondering how many people are sopping up this stuff out of ignorance of their right-wing agenda.

I came in this evening and the television was on the total makeover show which was followed by 20/20 with yet another sensational topic I walked away to avoid hearing about. I caught about five minutes of the View and they, as well as my local ABC CON radio station--spent way too much time talking about Trista and Ryan's wedding. Both shows from different medium even repeated a "joke" about the feigned helicopters full of "paparazzi" at the wedding making so much noise it sounded like the apocalypse.

I marvel at how the media seems to synchronize their topics so seamlessly--totally controlling what most people think about and believe. I know I'm rambling but the point is I'm depressed about there being so little of substance on television these days, it's getting worse. There's even a thread running here about ABC dropping coverage of candidates and who can forget Koppel's coverage of the debate?

I hate ABC in particular and truly wish/hope people will wake up and boycott Disney to bring them down.

But beyond ABC, it is absolutely depressing how little substantive information on there is on television. I hardly watch the news anymore. I feel a serious loss personally because of this. I guess I'll have to get a new hobby--or take a second job to fill my time. I will not succumb to the brainwashing.

Then you would have to buy a new TV. Then the economy would recover. Then Bush would get elected.

it's not worth watching anyway.....haven't had TV in some time and well I think I'm pretty informed but not nauseated.

7. One word: NETFLIX

I cancelled my cable and got netflix for $20 a month instead. I can still recieve PBS on my TV (Bill Moyers "Now", Nature, and Sat. night Britcoms are my only TV vices now), but I'm catching up on all those old movies and loads of documetaries I missed in the past-plus, no commercials or late fees! I also got a new kitten who just wants to PLAY all the time. No boredom for me! :-)
