reich-wing radio bashing medi-don'tcare bill
Looks like baghdad-bush has touched the third rail and is getting zapped from the right as well as the left

driving home from work I tune into Neil Boortz and Rush just to hear what they are blathering about - usually my tolerance level is a minute or two before I :puke:

ennywhooo --- one caller into Boortz show said that not only is Boortz wailing about the medi-don'tcare bill putting future generations into massive debt but also Rush and Hannity. the caller went on to say that Hannity is reporting that he is getting phone calls from Baghdad-Bush headquarters in DC telling him to cool it with the criticism.

just thought you would like to know about this.....

1. Is this going to work against Bush like the tax increase against 41?

2. Absolutely
The right is livid about this bill

They don't like the strong arm tactics and outright bribes it took to pass it.

They don't like the new "entitlement" it gives seniors (as poor as that benefit is for most seniors).

They are getting concerned about the ballooning deficit and are concerned their tax cuts are in jeopardy.

Civil war is breaking out in the GOP.

5. I am just so surprised
that Repubs are criticizing the bill. I expected them to spin and twist the facts and say how this bill will actually make government smaller and will actually reduce the national debt, etc, etc, ..

6. It's spin
Machiavellian spin, but spin nonetheless.

The bill is horrible for seniors and ultimately destructive to the Medicare system. They know this and know that political hay can be made of it. So they convince everyone that Repubs actually hate the bill, thus taking the air out of the Dems arguments against it.

7. I don't think that makes much sense
The Republicans, especially the party leadership, have been boasting about this bill, and I think they've put too much on the line to pretend to hate it now. The fact of the matter is that his Medicare bill is not in line with the Republican agenda -- the ones who voted against it were the hardcore conservatives, not the centrists. I think they were counting on the fact that it wouldn't kick in for years, so people wouldn't see the rancid meat they'd paid filet minon prices for until it was too late to vote the offenders out of office. No such luck for the GOP I guess.
