Encouraging words from Republicans?? Yes, it's true!!
Just turned on C-SPAN missed the debate, but the endorsementis on now!

In any event I heard some Republican callers discussing the debate. Aside from the one Freeper type airhead complaining about someone's criticizing Bush Jr's "faith in God", the response from Republicans was shocking......

Every one of them wanted Bush out of the White House.

Junior lost the last election. He can't afford to lose one vote, but he's losing them. From all sides of the Republican "big elephant tent".

The Idiot Son Of An Asshole is in big big trouble. Ain't it great

(BTW... anybody know if there's a debate rerun tonight??)

5. Just random people
There was a lady from Arizona, for example, who realizes that Bush is all air and no substance (but she voted for Gore in 2000 because of that, anyway)

And some other guy who doesn't like the whole 'misleading' Iraq and WMD thing, as well as lack of fiscal discipline in the Republicans.

3. It is good, but
you have to consider that it is probably mostly Republicans who are turned off of Bush who would watch a Democratic debate on C-SPAN, much less call in and say what they think.

See the 'freeper calls C-Span' thread about that crazy one. We'll just call her an outlier. :)

4. Those Repug callers were great!
Edited on Tue Dec-09-03 10:03 PM by RatTerrier
They're all turning on Bush, since the Republican Party is not very conservative anymore. It has turned into a heavy spending, civil liberties stripping, imperialist, backstabbing, negative, loathesome facist dictatorship. This ain't Goldwater's party anymore.

I'm not surprised to see them turning to the Democrats.

As the saying goes, if you want to live like a Republican, vote Democrat.

6. This is not a rarity
I personally Know 4 Rs who are ditchin' George.

I'm keepin' a close eye on Dubya's lower lip. It'll soon start to tremblin' as he catches on to the fact that it's impossible for him to win.

Home, home on the range, buddy. You'll be happier with all that space to play and run around in.

We's just thinkin' 'bout what's best for you Dubya.

8. and then there's this from the weekly standard
How Dean Could Win . .

snip
>Could Dean really win? Unfortunately, yes. The Democratic presidential candidate has, alas, won the popular presidential vote three times in a row--twice, admittedly, under the guidance of the skilled Bill Clinton, but most recently with the hapless Al Gore at the helm. And demographic trends (particularly the growth in Hispanic voters) tend to favor the Democrats going into 2004.

But surely the fact that Bush is now a proven president running for reelection changes everything? Sort of. Bush is also likely to be the first president since Herbert Hoover under whom there will have been no net job creation, and the first since Lyndon Johnson whose core justification for sending U.S. soldiers to war could be widely (if unfairly) judged to have been misleading.<

9. "if unfairly"??
Well Kristol should know... he was there, in the mid 90's, when the misleading justification was being manufactured.

it's full of qualifiers but if the weekly standard is raising the alarm...there must be something to it.

11. These are the Republicans...
we need. I've met so many Republicans lately who are disgusted with Bush. This has reminded me that not all conservatives are neo-cons or 'wingnuts'. I remember when I used to respect most Republicans instead of loathing the 'pub neo-cons. I'm just as concerned with us Dems getting our party back as I am with the Republicans getting their party back. Both of our parties have been taken too far to the right. I have to respect the conservatives who aren't going with the Bush/Rush/Falwell/Robertson party line--they may never register as Democrat, but they have a conscience, and will help us vote Bush out of office.

14. yeah but the calls improved after that
and lots of Repubs disgusted with Bush. I listen to the calls every morning and recently there has been more and more of those type calls. It's looking better for Dems, folks. Bush has a lot of money to throw lies around with but we have lots of people on tv telling the truth and its starting to get through to thinking people.:kick:
