MANCHESTER, Dec. 3 -- U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman unveiled his latest plan Wednesday, proposing an addition to the family medical leave act to include pay for those who have to miss work for medical emergencies.

As part of his agenda for family values tour, Lieberman announced the federal program that would require employers to offer have an employees salary for up to four weeks if the employee has to take off under the provisions of the 1993 family medical leave act.
