Possible Ad for Davis Campaign
Edited on Fri Jul-25-03 03:40 PM by jiacinto
Bring on George McGovern, Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, and Al Gore.

Caption says: 1973

McGovern speaks first: I lost 49 states to Richard Nixon in 1972. Can we have another election because I didn't win the first time?

Caption says: 1981

I lost to Ronald Reagan in a landslide. America is in bad shape. It's not "Morning in America" yet. Can I run again against Ronald Reagan because I didn't win the first time?

Caption says: 1985

I just lost to Ronald Reagan in a 49 state landslide. Iran Contra is taking place. Can I run again because I didn't win the first time?

Caption says: 1989

I lost to George Bush I in 1988. America needs Michael Dukakis. I should have the right to another election.

Caption says: 2001

I don't like how the Supreme Court ruled. I have a legitiamte claim to the White House. I should have another election to beat Bush.

Annoucer comes on: Does this sound ludicrious to you? Does this sound like people who are sore loses?

Bill Simon lookalike comes on:

I lost to Gray Davis in 2002 by more than 300,000 votes. I couldn't win but I want another chance even though I didn't make the cut.

Gray Davis won the last election fair and square. If we bend the rules for Bill Simon et al should we bend the rules for future losers?

Should the loser in a Superbowl get another chance to play the game?

3. Nice ad...
...but the GOP ain't bending no rules for the recall; it's completely constitutional, and given Davis's dismal approval rating, they're completely ethical.

5. Here is the point that should be argued
They lost and want to try again. They lost fair and square.

4. That's a good idea.
That's a really good idea, but at this point, with Davis so unpopular, I think it would be best for the party for him to step down. Then the Cali Dems could unite behind another candidate, and if we won that we'd own California. I don't dislike Davis and I don't blame him for that state's ills, but I'm just thinking about what would be best for the party. I think Davis being in office there can hurt our ticket in 2004 and 2006.

6. Here's another one:
VO: "Darrell Issa was arrested for stealing this:"

VO: "Now look what he's trying to steal:"

VO: "Fight crime in California. Vote NO on Darrell Issa's recall ballot on October 7."

9. One problem jiacinto

This recall is LEAGAL. It not about sore losers.

IMHO, Davis needs to show how ENRON and other forces beyond his control are
responsible for the current California crisis.

He needs to get specific. He needs to stop taking in platitudes. ThatÕs not going to work.

He needs to explain why heÕs cutting the budget for Education.

If he canÕt do that, he will get pinned for the blame.

This guy is too used to fund raising, he needs to get his hands dirty and do some heavy lifting and confront and debate his critics, not refuse to debate them if they are in the same room.

10. I expect Davis
to be ruthless. He is more than capable of shredding his opponents. This will get very very ugly.

Davis is a career politician. He is more than capable of getting his hands dirty. (He doesn't get his hair messed up, though.)

16. That's not the point I'm trying to address
I am trying to bring up the issue of losing. If Davis is recalled that basically means that every loser can try to force the winner out prematurely.

11. Here's an idea for another
Special Interests and Big Money created our so-called energy crisis

California money went on a One way trip to Texas

We knew it when we Re-elected him in November

We were "Enroned" Once

Let's not get "Enroned" Again

12. Another.....
...in the background.. a crying baby....

voice over... as a scenic montage of California highlights is shown

"Remember when we were told that "the grown-ups" were back in charge???

Remember when your folks told you that it was better to do something right, instead of fast??

The grown up thing to do is to tackle the problems that we have, NOT create more....

The Grownups are ALREADY in charge...

13. OOOOH .. I'm on a roll
scene... tropicdal scenes.. palms,,banana trees, orange trees, beaches..

Just because part of our state is tropical, doesn;t mean we should start acting like a banana republic...

In america, we ELECT our leaders...we do not overthrow them..
