The reason they have to show the photos is b/c they have no credibility!
They're not doing it because the Iraqi people want it, and certainly not because the American people want it. They're doing it because no one will believe them if they do not. DNA tests would normally be enough, but when you've behaved in such a way that with every claim you make, people have to see it to believe it, then, well... people have to see it to believe it!

The release of these photos is an implicit admission that their credibility is shot.

1. I was wondering if someone was going to make this point
The credibility of the American government is so low now that we have to provide proof for everything we say.

Thanks, Bush for ruining my country!

2. And the administration has attempted to blame us!
According to the rove media machine, evil liberals are telling the TRUTH about the bush administration; and if we continue to tell the TRUTH, the white house credibility goes down in the eyes of the world. So to be good, patriotic americans, we are supposed to stop telling the truth. So we must lie, like them. bush is a vietnam war hero. bush is a man of integrity. bush is a uniter not a divider. I'm catching on. I could be a republican too; just as long as I avoid honesty and the truth.

3. yep, not a shred of credibility
That's interesting because I thought the very same thing. From the minute the story broke, it was as if they were anticipating everyone calling them liars and they would jump through hoops to prove they were right.
