Will you protest that decision by NOT watching? By watching Monday nite football you will be validating what rush limbaugh says.

2. not MNF
he'll be on the preview game, not actually broadcasting the games. I wrote ESPN when I heard about this; here's my email and their response:

I will boycott your show and your magazine (which I currently subscribe to) if this asshole is put on the air. There is talk on several discussion boards of organizing boycotts of sponsors. Similar boycotts have forced several on his radio show sponsors to drop their affiliation with him. You can't sleep with dogs and not wake up with fleas.

Thank you for your e-mail.

Rush is an excellent communicator and a big sports fan. He was hired
for those two reasons, not his politics. His role will be to provide
the fans perspective and to create discussion and debate.

Sincerely,
ESPN Viewer Response

5. I Got the Same Response from ESPN

Who knows if they read the letter.

I will definitely not watch the show. I'm a football fan, but that show is overkill for me. And I will definitely write again when the first show airs.

ESPN will see an immediate spike in ratings followed by a long, slow decline -- just like Bush's poll numbers. I don't think Rush will last more than a season.

3. He was up for the position before Dennis Miller got it
Not currently.

I'm already considering watching MNF with the sound off, because Al Michaels has decided to use it as a forum for HIS right wing political views.

I'll turn on the radio instead.

8. ESPN Football lost this fan. MNF will to if Rush is on.
I can live with my Sunday games (GO COLTS). If not maybe I can talk the wife into the Direct TV game pass (only $175 or something like that), and then talk Bush into telling the truth. (needless to say I will NOT get the game pass!)

10. CBS radio broadcasts
the games if you can find them turn the sound down on the tube and listen to the radio. I'm going to give up espn football this season, probablly mnf as well, maybe if enough people do it abc will come to their senses and realize more people than knuckledragging cousin diddlers watch sports.

11. I will NEVER EVER watch a network ...
Edited on Thu Jul-24-03 11:59 AM by Drifter
that will have this blow hard on it.

I too wrote a scathing letter to ESPN indicating that I will no longer watch their station or visit their website, until Rush is off the payroll. I got the same BS letter that someone else posted above. I have removed all ESPN stations from my favorites list on every TV in the house.

I am quite saddened to hear that this peice of shit is going to also be broadcast as part of MNF. I will no longer watch ABC (especially MNF) until he is removed. I will be sending the same letter to ABC.

Don't JUST Boycott the shows that Limbaugh appears on (I don't think the effect will be big enough).
Boycott the entire network(s) that is paying him.

If the reaction to Rush indicates that people are not tuning into the network at all, the impact may be too much for them to keep him.

Cheers
Drifter

On Edit : I am relieved (after reading farther into this thread) that Rush will have nothing to do with MNF.
