Nightmare election year
IF Bush cannot be defeated in 2004 by any candidate, if he is a 80% / 20% "sure thing" when the greatest DU minds conceed the election, then who should we run and on what platform?

I say Dean / Braun - progressive / Green platform.
:dem:
what say you, DU?

1. Yeah and if we demoralize each other
And try to convince each other that we can't win, and we surrender to our political enemies and we let Repubilcans control the country without a fight, and we ignore President Bush's vulnerability on any number of issues, well, than we may as well run whoevers standign around cause who cares.

But if we do have a chance to win, than maybe we should focus on winning.

Bryant

8. I feel the same way
but if Saddam Hussain and Osoma Bin Laden are killed, an international front in Iraq is organized, and wmd are found, Bush becomes a harder target to beat.

My question is, "should the dems stick with a conservative platform that is more moderate than the Bush / GOP platform or should the dems solidify the left and run from a progressive base?

10. I cant think of a New England Republican
that questioned pre emption in Iraq. There were not many elected Dems that took a stand against the war in the northeast.
I was refreshed when Dean, Sharton, Kucinich, and Braun (Clark too, but not in the Spring of 2003) made their opposistion to the war clear.
Democrats need to address terrorism as an election issue. Perhaps the best platform would be one of international cooperation, diplomacy, and new, open security / intelligence partnerships.

Braun represents inclusion and diplomacy. She is part of a culture that has been at "war" with Western Civilization (the war against slavery and for equality).

Clark understands security. He is reassuring.

Dean has campaigned the best so far. In that, he has outlined his difference with W and has represented the best chance of unseating Bush.

6. Children, children...
Stop your bickering now. You all must keep your eye on the the real goal. Ousting the criminals in Gore's White House and putting them in prison where they belong. All this infighting is counter productive.

11. Carol Mosely Braun is a DISGRACE!
I can't say it loud or long enough. There is no force in this universe that could ever persuade me to cast another vote for that woman.
She PISSED AWAY her Senate seat, and doesn't deserve the opportunity to return to the public payroll.
I am and always have been a citizen of Illinois, I voted for CMB on her first senate run, I saw and lived through her dubious exploits during her tenure, and will NEVER support her again, NO MATTER WHAT.
