Republicans are not invincible or all-powerful. This is a positive result that I doubt was "fixed".

California was an aberration beacuse Davis was so unpopular (22% approval) and a celebrity was among the replacement choices. IMHO, the Louisiana result is more reflective of the mood of the country.

Bush is going down. Better days are ahead.

1. Bush didn't campaign in LA
For Bobby J, since Rove didn't want anti-Bush feeling to tip the election.

That is a very potent sign.

I'll be dipped if I don't live in a blue state. :)

Edit: wow... there is something to the strong political female candidate in Louisiana politics.

2. Hmmmm.. this is interesting...
Given the outcome of two recent Louisiana elections, maybe this voting on Saturday thing is a good idea. Think there's any way to make it national in the next 11 1/2 months?

4. Note the margin of win seems to coincide with the number of primary voters
I also think that Sen. Landrieu helped out a lot.

Also, Dems might have been spooked a bit by GOP wins just recently.

5. It Certainly Makes Me Think!
This is the second time in 1 year that LA has pi**ed in the rethuglicans collective soup. California was an abberation and there is NO possibility that whistle ass will lose Mississippi or Kentucky. This result, however, makes me wonder if we should be spending a few more $ and send our nominee there next year. Perhaps Mary for VP?

Could somebody from LA give a Mainer an opinion?

Thanks in advance!

7. Holy sugar! Didn't even know there was an election today. Fantastic.
I was on my toes for the Landrieu runoff a year ago, but not this race. I kind of thought the election was Tuesday.

Oh this is great. I had thought I saw something today about an indian-American about to be the first governor of a state, but didn't know what they were talking about. Never heard of this Jindal fellow.

He's a Republican, so I'm so glad he lost. I was getting discouraged about our party since October 7, and all the snide comments I saw the past week referring to "Get ready Demorats, you are about to lose yet another governorship. ROFL." (Louisiana)

Governor-elect Blanco. Chalk up one for the good gals. This is a priceless win.

Louisiana must be the smartest southern state.
