For thousands of years, conspiracies were hatched, people were lied to and dictators flourished. Propaganda was (and still is) spewed by the media, scapegoats are blamed, politicians make deals. The dots could not be connected fast enough. That has all changed.
Now, we are all researchers. We are all writers. Our words are read by millions throughout the world. We do this without doing deals. Without publiciists. Without money. Just a keyboard.
We are all analysts. We assimilate, devour, combine and comprehend relevant data instantaneously from thousands of sources in minutes. We calculate probabilities of odd events in seconds. And we share the fruits of our passion and labor with the world. In a heartbeat.
A motivated researcher can connect the dots much more quickly than any bogus government investigation can cover them up. We keep the complacent, complicit media and spineless politicians honest. We bombard them with phone calls, with e-mail, with information they do not possess - or do not wish to acknowledge. We force them to look inside themselves, to realize that they cannot take us for fools any longer. We know their game. And now they know we know.
We know our elections have been stolen and will continue to be compromised. We have the truth. We got it on the Net.
We know about the the 9/11 timeline and the failure of BushCo to protect us. We have the truth. We got it on the Net.
We know about the lies leading up to the Iraq War. We have the truth. We got it on the Net.
We know about the Plame leak. We have the truth. We got it on the Net.
We know about the Jessica Lynch propaganda. We have the truth. We got it on the Net.
This is truly the Age of Information we dreamed about in the 60s and 70s and 80s. It is the new Age of Reason, to determine the TRUTH of events which would otherwise remain hidden from us. It is a true rebirth of classical liberalism, where logical analysis is applied to factual data, exposing myriad lies and coverups.
Thank you, Al Gore, for trumpeting the potential of the Information Superhighway. You did this back in the early days, before the Internet became a standard. If democracy survives, it will do so because the information disseminated to the world on the Net has enabled us to fight the evildoers and educate the masses. It is through the power of the combined human mind, yearning for the truth ere on DU, magnified many orders of magnitude, using tools like Google, E-mail, Excel, Word, etc...
If we need the truth, we know where it can be found. On the Net.
At DU.
