Two 9-11 hijackers 'lived with FBI informant'

THE FBI lost a chance to uncover the September 11 plot by failing to investigate evidence that two of the suicide hijackers were living with a bureau informant, a congressional inquiry is expected to report this week.

The study also contains new evidence suggesting that a Saudi Arabian government agent may have been a key associate of the al Qaeda attackers, according to Newsweek magazine.

The long-delayed conclusions of the 900-page report, to be released on Thursday, raises new concerns about the FBI missing critical clues on 9-11 and raises questions about whether Saudi officials were secretly monitoring the hijackers or even facilitating their conduct.

One US congressman involved in the probe told the magazine the findings were "a scathing indictment of the FBI as an agency that doesn't have a clue about terrorism".
