Ronald Reagan, Dulles, WWII Nazis and "The Crusade for Freedom"
Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 11:56 AM by 9215
After filling a couple of barf buckets over the flap over RR's miniseries being pulled for being to hard on the nasty old fart I cleared my throat and went into "hmmmmmm" mode. I haven't seen the series with all of its up close and personal bullshit. While the Right is saying it does a disservice to the Raygun legacy by the negativity I say it does a disservice by being to superficial. No wonder Americans are so dumbed-down.

I dug back into my files. It has been awhile since I read this stuff. Back before 9/11 J.H. Hatfield, the suicided author of book "Fortunate Son" saying bad things about the Bushies, postulated that there was a link between Islamic terrorists and Right-Wing extremists in Europe and the US. And what does this have to do with Reagan?

Here is a little of what I found.
Please add too and discuss this.

Next, the program reviews Allen Dulles’ pivotal role in helping to boost Ibn Saud to the throne of Saudi Arabia, and their mutual connection to British fascist Jack Philby and the Third Reich. (Ibid.; p. 21.) (For more on this subject, see also: FTR#’s 216, 332.)
4. Dulles, in turn, utilized his political protégé Richard Nixon to help import Nazis and Third Reich collaborators into the United States to counter what the Republicans felt was excessive “Jewish influence” in the American electorate. (Ibid.; p. 122.) (For more about this operation, see also: RFA#37, Miscellaneous Archive Show M24, FTR#’s 29, 48, 113, 186, 248.)
5. The principal spokesperson for this operation (the Crusade For Freedom) was Ronald Reagan and the official principally involved in arranging for the fascists to emigrate to the U.S. was William Casey, campaign manager for the Reagan/Bush campaign in 1980 and Reagan’s CIA director. (Ibid.; p. 605.)

1. Yes, but ...
This is good stuff, but it's awfully light on documentation. Has he assembled any kind of supporting material?

Anyway, I wish him well. Even he can't document any of it, at least there are some good leads in there.

10. Raygoon Nazi Lover
Years ago I use to listen to public radio and the "Mae Brussels Show." She had the history of R. Raygoon down to a T! One item that stuck in my memory was during the Goon's early career, in the late 1930's he had a penchant for speaking at American Nazi Party functions.
And in the first term of his so called presidency one of the first good will gestures he performed abroad was to lay a wreath on the grave of an SS Commander in Bittberg, Germany.
What was that all about Ronnie?

3. This looks interesting
Bellant, Russ. Old Nazis, the Right and the Reagan Administration. 2nd. ed. Political Research Associates, 1989

This publication first appeared during the 1988 Bush campaign and with the help of a series of articles in "Washington Jewish Week" it provoked a minor scandal. At issue was the close association of the Republican Party with Eastern European nationalists who had emigrated to the U.S. when their pro-Nazi regimes collapsed.

4. Lots of nasty stuff involving the Dulles brothers
I haven't been tracking their careers specifically, but both their names keep coming up when you start digging into the more unsavory aspects of the Bush family history. For example, there's this:

As reported in the New York Times: on Hitler achieving power, an agreement to coordinate all trade between Germany & America was reached in Berlin after negotiations between Hitler’s Economics Minister, Hjalmar Schacht (above) & John Foster Dulles. As a result of this, the Harriman International Co. - under Oliver Harriman (Averell’s first cousin) - formed a syndicate of 150 firms/individuals to conduct all exports from Germany to America. It should be noted here that the two Dulles brothers, partners in the corporate law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, had acted for many Nazi enterprises during & after this period, including I. G. Farben, developer of the nerve gas, Tabun; SKF, supplier of 60% of its bearings to Germany; & the Schroeder Banking house, of which Allen Welsh Dulles became a director of its New York branch - a post he held until 1944.

http://www.enduroplus.net/bushtory.htm

Or this, on Allen Dulles:

# worked with brother John Foster Dulles, as lawyer and international finance specialist for Sullivan & Cromwell, a Wall Street law firm in New York (1927-1941). While there, he worked with top Nazi industrialists and played a pivotal role in promoting U.S.-Nazi corporate relations. Allen worked with Prescott Bush (grandfather of President George Walker Bush) and George Herbert Walker (Prescott's father-in-law) who ran Union Banking Corporation for the Nazis. Allen was legal counsel for Standard Oil and the Nazi's I. G. Farben, co-owned by the Rockefellers. . . .
# President Roosevelt, realizing Dulles was a traitor, had his New York "Office of Coordinator of Information" wiretapped (1941-42). Some Dulles-linked firms, like Bush's Union Banking Corp., were seized under the Trading with the Enemy Act (1942)
# Berne station chief, Office of Strategic Services (1942-1945). Roosevelt's plan to charge Dulles with treason failed when Dulles was warned and covered his tracks (1944). Roosevelt's plan died with him (1945).
# as OSS station chief in Berlin, Dulles negotiated the agreement with General Reinhard Gehlen to establish a Nazi spy network within the OSS (1945).

Or this:

A central focus of the Harriman security regime in Washington (1950-53) was the organization of covert operations, and "psychological warfare." Harriman, together with his lawyers and business partners, Allen and John Foster Dulles, wanted the government's secret services to conduct extensive propaganda campaigns and mass-psychology experiments within the U.S.A., and paramilitary campaigns abroad. This would supposedly ensure a stable world-wide environment favorable to Anglo-American financial and political interests.

7. General Gehlen
was in the Abwehr, not the SS intelligence apparatus.
The Abwehr was the most anti-Nazi official organization in nazi germany. the Abwehr warned the Allies before the 1940 Invasion of france and the Low Countries. The head of the Abwehr, Admiral Canaris, was executed in 1945 for being involved in several Anti-Hitler coup plots.

8. I think the links between Prescott Bush
and others are perhaps overstated now. I have seen nothing not on the internet in any credible WWII history or book that has any information about Prescott Bush. I think perhaps since his son is president people have been overstating his role.
Much of this other information I have also never seen in any book about WWII, the Nazis or the Holocaust.

9. I need to see
things that are solid, credible not just Internet sites or books written by tin foil hats or Larouchies (who actually popularized the Prescott bush theory)
None of this info has made it into any book i have ever read about WWII, nazi germany or the Holocaust and I have read a lot about all three subjects.

5. If you haven't already,
a few books you might be interested in:

Firstly, John Loftus' "The Secret War Against the Jews". It suffers greatly from an enormous amount of unsourced quotes from "intelligence sources", but lays out a highly interesting history of post WW2 America.

In terms of Nazi emigration to the US, & post WW2 US involvement with fascists, Martin Lee's "The Beast Reawakens" pads out the story with a lot more reference to declassified documents & is also well worth a read.

Going back to the founding of the al-Saud family -- as well as Dulles, it's important to recognize the role of St. John Philby (Kim Philby's Dad), which Loftus explores, but which is given a more thorough treatment in Anthony Cave Brown's "Treason in the Blood".

Richard Laberviere's (I think that's how you spell his surname) "Dollars for Terror" looks at covert US funding of Islamic fundamentalism, particularly in relation to Saudi Arabia, from the eighties through to the KLA & the spread of central Asian radicalism. Again, IMHO it suffers from a lack of strong documentation, but nevertheless, outlines an interesting thesis.

But a real stunner is the Seagrave's "Gold Warriors". I've only read an electronic version of the book, and not had access to the 2 CD's of documentation that come with it -- but WOW! Did the US plunder Japanese & Nazi (looted) gold to create an anti-communist slush fund which payed for covert operations for the past fifty years? I'm suspicious -- but the Seagrave's do put forward a very pursuasive case.

Anyway, thought these might be of use to you, or anyone else interested in the subject.
