3. bush got a few hours bounce
from the killing of two more iraqis and nothing else. Next week, expect rove to announce the discovery of a vietnam prisoner of war. That'll sure exonerate bush from deserting his military unit huh? and how about that wacky confusing antiquated texas law that says sex with 15 year olds isn't rape. And don't forget the insider trading loop hole. Conservatives, continue to fear truth, the way vampires fear light. IT MUST SUCK BEING A REPUBLICAN.

4. At first I thought it was a brilliant move by Rove
but I'm beginning to agree with you that it smells of desperation. The whores like Hannity are acting like this will end the insurgency in Iraq when the two have absolutely nothing to do with each other, and you have the WH treasury secy. John Snow saying this will help the economy. These responses are not rational at all. It's like Bush and his supporters think this is some kind of cure-all.

5. my impression is they could've killed em' months ago
and i also suspect that they aren't really dead. that they put two charred guys in there to be dead decoys. and the they i'm talking about is the u.s. govt. the whole thing stinks of a hoax. these people are devious and desperate. if they did actually kill them, they only did so today to deflect bush's bad press.

6. They needed it to bury the real story of
what did they know and when did they know it.

How convenient.

10. some people may indeed be horrified that we are assassinating
the SONS of the brutal dictator...and the GRANDCHILD of the brutal dictator...Americans cannot be real proud of this assassination policy....I remember when assassinations were banned in America...

the reTHUGlican "the sons are BAD" just isn't going over...it reminds me of the first gulf war...

how do we know if the sons really did everything they are accused of?....is this another "babies thrown out of incubators" "WMD that rumsfeld gave to saddam"....?

what happened to America today ? even the nazi war criminals had trials...even milosovich is at the Haig...pinochet at the court in england and even sent back home in mercy for his illness...we are not supposed to just execute everyone that we don't like, and their sons and grandsons....what happened to America today ? certainly nothing to be proud of...yet shrub's minions are gloriously bragging about such killing, with glee and joy at the kill...in many ways, it is disgusting to Americans and our values...this one has gone over like a lead balloon...

11. The 2 dead thugs are about as connected with the current mess in Iraq as
Saddam is with Osama.

You're right, Pete, it's *very* sad that more GIs will die, because the direct cause of those deaths -- the pResident's lies -- will continue unabated.

12. Apologies to the cat lovers on this forum...
I know there are a lot of you, and I have a cat that I love like crazy...

But the best Bush will get out of this is a 'dead-cat bounce.' The questions will not go away, and they won't be able to point to the death of the Saddam brothers as any type of accomplishment if more soldiers die tomorrow.

13. I'm with you on that
Exactly what the hell did they ever do to Americans?

If anyone thinks this will somehow solve the guerilla war problem, they are deluded. Of course, they were delusional to think they could conquer and successfully occupy a muslim country to begin with.

Its been tried for thousands of years. No one has succeeded for long.

15. I guess the killing of Hussein's grandson (14 yrs old) was justified too?
I assume he was guilty by familial association.

16. TRUMPED!
CNN online started out with a banner--TRUMPED! They toned it down pretty quickly. I suspect a lot of Americans are getting a little queasy about celebrations of the deaths of other human beings. However nasty those individuals might be.

It is doubtful this has much effect on the insurgency:
1) These guys couldn't have been doing much organizing and directing. They had a full-time job staying alive.
2) It is far from clear how much fear of Saddam is the driving force behind the attacks. Or whether his loss would dispirit the attackers, or just piss them off more.
3) The true loyalists will never believe the American story. There will be tapes from Saddam and the Sons. No matter how much evidence the Americans provide, the loyalists will believe the tapes are real.

The 9/11 report is due out Thursday. That will dominate the news for several days. Likely not to the benefit of the administration.
