An act of ‘betrayal’
Commissaries and the Defense Department’s stateside schools are in the crosshairs of Pentagon budget cutters, and military advocates, families and even base commanders are up in arms. (For subscribers only)

12. He says one thing but means the opposite. In other words, screw
the soldier because the money is in weapon systems, not people.

4. Since ShrubCo Controls The Media
I've discovered the best source for news is from the Military.

Not so much as the articles published but more from the LTTE's.

6. They want to go back to the way it WAS..
Barracks full of UNENCUMBERED young men..i.e......no families..

They do not want to fund base housing, commissaries, BXes, base schools, they only want the fighting men..no dependents..

It's infinitely easier to placate a grieving 50-60 yr old Momma, than it is for a 20-30 something wife with little kids..

I doubt that the insurance benefits are even paid to a Mom & Dad, but they ARE paid to a wife & kids..

It always comes down to MONEY with this gang..

7. It's just regular life insurance
You can designate anyone you want.

There used to be a "by law" designation--in order, spouse, children (if you were divorced or your spouse was deceased), parents (if no spouse or children), siblings (if parents were deceased), and past that they'd find a relative to give your benefits to if they had to. They got rid of "by law" in 1992.

9. This behaviour is typical of Republicans.
Back in the 80's, Reagan promised support for the common soldier/sailor/airman/marine that help (money/support) was on its way.

"Help" turned out to be the "600 Ship Navy" (all six battleships that got renovated are now back in mothballs or permanent museum ships, for example) and "Star Wars."

Anyone who believes these people are on anyone's side but their own has been taken in by their propaganda, which is pretty damned good one must admit.

11. How about......
The PX becomes a Walmart & the mess hall becomes a Burger King. Then privatize the GI's health care..... Perfect way to free up more $$$$ for the next "bribe to the rich" tax cut. Hell the Armed Forces of the United States is just a "Vested Interest" labor group anyway, right?
