Disgusting Right Wing term of the week: Abortion "Industry"
Ok, so obviously I've been living under a rock for a long time, but I was just exposed to this term by some right wingers again just recently. Apparently they've been told that any time the speak of abortion they are to say "abortion and the abortion industry."

Give me a break. Industry? Is Microsoft going to stop making Operating Systems next year so that it came move into the "abortion industry" and do business there? Did the abortion industry post earnings reports last quarter? What's the Stock Ticker abbrevation - I want to see how key corproations in the abortion industry are doing on Wall Street...

I try not to hate these people.. but its hard.

1. Right Wingers could be called
the robot industry. Shove someone through a church and then indoctrinate him or her with some fundamentalist drivel.

2. Oh boy, I have to laugh grimly
What the heck are these nuts thinking using this term. I guess they are wanting to paint a picture of a factory with workers busy performing abortions on an assembly line? Come on!

4. Language matters. I am posting this article on subjects pertaining
to right wing linguistics since this is where we are really losing the war:

Framing the issues: UC Berkeley professor George Lakoff tells how conservatives use language to dominate politics

By Bonnie Azab Powell, NewsCenter | 27 October 2003

BERKELEY – With Republicans controlling the Senate, the House, and the White House and enjoying a large margin of victory for California Governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger, it's clear that the Democratic Party is in crisis. George Lakoff, a UC Berkeley professor of linguistics and cognitive science, thinks he knows why. Conservatives have spent decades defining their ideas, carefully choosing the language with which to present them, and building an infrastructure to communicate them, says Lakoff.

The work has paid off: by dictating the terms of national debate, conservatives have put progressives firmly on the defensive.

In 2000 Lakoff and seven other faculty members from Berkeley and UC Davis joined together to found the Rockridge Institute, one of the only progressive think tanks in existence in the U.S. The institute offers its expertise and research on a nonpartisan basis to help progressives understand how best to get their messages across. The Richard & Rhoda Goldman Distinguished Professor in the College of Letters & Science, Lakoff is the author of "Moral Politics: How Liberals and Conservatives Think," first published in 1997 and reissued in 2002, as well as several other books on how language affects our lives. He is taking a sabbatical this year to write three books — none about politics — and to work on several Rockridge Institute research projects.

12. Want to get really
angry and scared? Read this one:

The Abortion Industry and Terrorism - Will the real Terrorist Please Stand Up?

The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice is a group of apostate pastors who have rejected God and His Commandments and become gods in their own eyes. This group meets us in almost every city as we bring the Gospel of Christ to local abortion mills. It represents various clergy dug up from the pit of hell by the abortion industry to illustrate the religious positives for killing little baby boys and girls. The tie that binds this group together is abortion. It is composed of men and women who wear their collars backward (their theology is just as backward), claiming the Name of Christ (most of them) yet spurning His Commandments.

They are a pack of ravenous wolves whose god is their belly. They care neither about our Lord's flock, nor His precious little lambs (baby boys and girls). False and lying prophets such as these must be confronted in their sin and exposed for who they really serve. Our nation is in far more peril from these enemies than from the terrorists in the East.

Yes, 3,800 little baby boys and girls are being terrorized, tortured, and murdered every day in America by those who would have you believe that they are the ones being terrorized. These terrorists don't knock at the door of the mother's womb - they barge in and begin ripping off arms and legs of defenseless children. When we show them the horrible carnage of what they do, they simply call it a "product of conception" and tell us that we are the ones terrorizing them by holding pictures of aborted children.

This self-promotional campaign would be better called the victimization of the abortion industry. It portrays itself as a modern day hero suffering through the day to day terroristic threats and acts of violent Christians in its efforts to provide women health care (read, kill children). What it really fears, however, is that these Christians will be allowed to remain in the streets offering mothers a real choice at abortion mills. Yes, the entire industry is crumbling and it knows it. Abortions are at their lowest level since 1976. New doctors are not entering into the abortion industry. There are 675 fewer abortion mills today than there were in 1991. The battle for the lives of children is being won as gentle Christians live out their faith at abortion mills.

13. As opposed to AAPI
I've been countering that term with Anti Abortion Propaganda Industry (AAPI) which is in fact a real industry as opposed to abortion providers who are engaged in a service business.

The AAPI is comprised of such groups as
  • Humungous Lies International (HLI)
  • Priests For Lies (PFL)
  • American Lie League (ALL)
  • The Elliott Institute
  • Population Research Institute (PRI) an offshoot of ALL
  • Long Discarded Integrity (LDI)

There are many more such manufacturers of course but these would be among the main ones in the USA.

The full and only raison d'être for all of these groups is to manufacture a single product and it certainly can't be called intellectual property. That product they manufacture is propaganda and the people paying for a great deal of the 'research' and distribution bills for them, but carefully hiding their participation and leaving others to front for them, stand to lose far too much (the concept of infallible doctrine being one thing, and the requirement to allegiance to one person on earth contrary to national interests of individual States if necessary another) if they are unsuccessful in persuading the world that abortion is a moral wrong and must be illegalized.

It was this AAPI that manufactured the phony term 'PBA' which is still unequivocally undefined and is therefore a Phantom Procedure. Since it is not a medical procedure that exists, according to the Supreme Court with the experts that acted as amicus curiae there, the AMA, and the ACOG, therefore it cannot be performed at any time in a pregnancy but the AAPI continues to propogate that Phantom Procedure scam.

The Anti Abortion Propaganda Industry (AAPI) for many years have been misrepresenting, and lying, about the woman who has been the greatest influence in reducing abortions ever known. I speak of St. Margaret Sanger. Can anybody imagine what the effect would have been if she had not pushed, funded, cajoled, and browbeat the researchers who were working on the hormonal Birth Control Pill. It came onto the marked just as the Baby Boomers were beginning to become sexually active. If the pill had not been available the ~1.5 million abortions a year that followed their reproductive years from the mid 60's to the mid 90's would have been ~4.5 million pre year.

I've seen misquotes of her words; lines taken out of context; words from other authors attributed to her because she edited a magazine they appeared in; and of course the lie that the society she founded, Planned Parenthood, is following her abortion policy when in fact Sanger opposed abortion. When I see the AAPI fill a page of so called quotes I am mindful of their dishonesty with Sanger and know they are doing the same thing again so I simply say so what!!

A small dossier:

The American Lie League; under Brown, (opposed to all abortions including to save a woman's life, opposes BC pills, opposes IUD, opposes Morning After pill - (is there a contradiction in that first and last?);

Humungous Lies International, (HLI) under the Anti Semite Marx, (even his own church is embarrassed by him and has censured him);

The Elliott Institute, under Reardon, the main function of which is to manufacture spurious studies on a regular basis based on correlation and pretend correlation means causality and to reinterpret and misrepresent the findings of legitimate peer reviewed studies in a way the original authors would never accept.

Long Discarded Integrity (LDI)under the 'author' of Slime 5, Mark Crutcher who was the genius behind the 'fetal parts for sale' scam that backfired when he became too successful with the lies and the House Commerce Committee was pushed to investigate it. The Commerce Committee hearings are still available to show the liar he is if you're interested. The book, BTW claimed after a great deal of newspaper research that the 'abortion industry' was hiding deaths of women from abortion but the list it provided missed 1/3 of those reported by the AGI statistics for the same year. His latest scam was to accuse Planned Parenthood of hiding abuse when they failed to call police in response to an anonymous telephone caller's claim of being pregnant by an adult male and her age being below the age of consent.

Pavone - glorious leader from Priests For Lies, has long been associated with the more violent wing of the anti-abortion industry, and has made the statement "When someone kills an abortion provider, he/she is practicing what pro-choicers have preached for decades: that sometimes it is OK to choose to end a life to solve a problem."*** which is really simply an endorsement of and alibi for violence and the killing of doctors IMO. Still PFL claims to eschew violence - go figger.

The AAPI is Big Business indeed but their tactics are more akin to organized crime.

15. These Anti Abortion Polemics have Been Going On For Ages
Anti-abortion fanatics canting about an "abortion industry" have been a staple of right-wing extremist radio for some time. They're now attempting to break out into the mainstream. Sadly, with the hard right firmly in the saddle of the Texas GOP and less extreme Republicans too gutless to stand up to them, this sort of <piffle> is likely to spread.

Here in Austin, a right-wing columnist named Ashley Sanchez tried to invoke the image of an "abortion industry" in a polemic against a proposed Planned Parenthood clinic that is to open in south Austin, Texas. Sanchez was trying to portray one of the leading opponents of the clinic as some sort of hero because his cement company refused to deal with the contractors and that he and his buddies were trying to discover who were the other contractors to the projects\ and try to influence them to withdraw their labor.

Whatever your opinion about abortion pro- or con-, please be aware that Planned Parenthood's abortion services comprise only a tiny portion of their activities in providing contraceptive and gynocological services to poor and needy women across the USA.

Sanchez's polemic is all too typical of the biased, dishonest, and deliberately ignorant commentary that is stock in trade of so-called social conservatives.

I got my information from the Austin American Statesman.
