1. Actually Blair is a Socialist, or one of us.
It makes his political marriage with Bush even stranger to comprehend.

6. Actually Labour is more into privatization than the Republicans.
Odd to say, but "New Labour" is actually pursuing privatization alot more aggerssively than the US Republicans.

4. He's not a socialist.
Admittedly, he's leader of the Labour Party, but they ceased to be socialist when he became leader -- much to the chagrin of the real socialists; Benn, Skinner, err, I've run out of names.

He views Thatcher as a role model for Christ's sakes, he dalies with George Bush. What does the man have to do to convince the world he's a right winger?

9. He is a union buster and a VERY good friend of big buisnesses
He's no socialist. He's been trying to dismatle and privatise the universal healthcare system in Britain for a few years.

Do you think Parliament is really going to investigate Iraq/9/11?

11. Hard to say
They agreed to the probe by the Foreign Affairs Select Committee because they knew they had a party majority on there and wanted a line drawn under the whole thing. But I expect Bush* being kicked in the face so much (after being pretty much immune) came as a surprise, and now this...

The last vote on an inquiry was 299 to 200 I think. Only about 9 Labour people rebelled, with the Tories and the Lib Dems all on the other side (unlike at the time of the war authorisation vote). Bear in mind 120-ish Labour MP's rebelled then, so you'd only need about half of those to vote against Blair again.

Next few weeks will be crucial. I'd put odds of an inquiry at 60/40 in favor, but another scandal (think Kelly, Niger style), and that'd go way, way up.
