Attempts to plant WMDs in Iraq - seeking info
A month ago, I came across a report alleging that a covert US operation tried to plant WMDs in Iraq so that Bush would be able to "prove" that Saddam was still hiding WMDs. The operation was carried out by CIA and DoD agents who managed to sneak into Iraq with chemical or biological agents, but all of the operatives were reportedly killed by "friendly fire" before they could plant the WMDs as directed. Here's the link:

Aside from this report, however, I found almost nothing on this story or on DoD whistleblower Nelda Rogers, who is credited with breaking this news out.

Is this iraqwar.ru report even credible? I'm only asking because of some renewed worries that another attempt at planting WMDs may be in the works now that Blair critic David Kelly may have turned up dead. (link: http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000102&sid=ax7JO_mmxKEY&refer=uk) Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I Would Want Some Corroboration from Another Source
Iraqwar.ru had some of the most detailed coverage of military action during the hot war -- I used to check it several times a day for updates. They were the first to report on Iraqi resistance and US delays and problems in reaching Badhdad. Several of their key assertions appeared nowhere else at the time but were back up by later US reports.

However detailed they were, the articles are definitely slanted against the US and may contain unreliable information. Their claims have to be taken seriously, but they also have to be investigated and vetted.

Oh, I just looked at the article and saw that the source was Al Martin Raw. Not a credible site in my experience without other sources.

But the article does provide a name, Nelda Rogers, who is claimed to have blown the whistle on the operation -- to Congress, I believe. Her testimony was supposedly secret. But that would be the angle to confirm, I think. All the articles on the internet seem to just reference the Al Martin site.

The story was actually broken by Al Martin www.almartinraw.com so that's your real source. Iraqru merely reprinted it.

You won't find information re whistleblowers on the net. All that information is hidden away under heavy classification. Good luck.
