A month ago, I came across a report alleging that a covert US operation tried to plant WMDs in Iraq so that Bush would be able to "prove" that Saddam was still hiding WMDs. The operation was carried out by CIA and DoD agents who managed to sneak into Iraq with chemical or biological agents, but all of the operatives were reportedly killed by "friendly fire" before they could plant the WMDs as directed. Is this iraqwar.ru report even credible? I'm only asking because of some renewed worries that another attempt at planting WMDs may be in the works now that Blair critic David Kelly may have turned up dead. (link:
