Neocons in Rome
"Since the inception of the Italian presidency of the Council of the European Union, it's only too normal that Rome has become the hotspot of international political summits to define the future course of EU foreign and domestic policy.

So while media attention was focused on the EU Intergovernmental Conference, inaugurated in Rome on October 4 with an Extraordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the EU (and the protests accompanying it), another no less controversial political event was taking place on the same week-end in the Italian capital: a closed-doors two-days conference organized by the Italian section of the Aspen Institute and by the New Atlantic Initiative of the American Enterprise Institute (http://www.aei.org/research/nai/projectID.11/default.asp) under the auspices of the Italian Government."

2. I guess this is somehow serious...
There seems to be a little resistance from Germany (from exactly the guy, who was offended by Berlusconi IIRC). But whenever I hear "American Enterprise Institute" my alarm bell rings. This is one of the far right wing thing-tanx that had a lot of old Nazis. They have published the rassist "Bell-Curve" pseudo-scientific study.

Greetings from Germany (and at least the italian people seem to have more balls to resist the neoliberal pest than the germans...

3. this is not just serious
THIS IS AN EMERGENCY OF MASSIVE PROPORTIONS....These people are the 2nd bully pulpit of the White House. The AEI are the Neo-cons who guide our foreign policy. The AEI are the ones that set the horrific economic policy in this nation. They are the ones that are extremely far to the right of many European societies. Don't ever let these people infiltrate Europe. They will be your worst nightmare.

The AEI and Rupert Murdoch (owner of Fox News) mixed together is the worst combination possible.
