Edited on Fri Oct-24-03 09:52 AM by Oaf Of Office
We have Harkin, Rockefeller, Daschle, Graham and can't see the 5th Senator who will be questioning 3 CIA (probably ex) officials about the leak. Opening statements are being made now and it looks like they're gonna come out swinging. :D

ON EDIT: Also Lautenburg (sp?) and Levin

They only eat their own when they don't bow down to King George. Apparently, outing an agent whose husband exposed their lie about Saddam buying Niger uranium is ok with them. :eyes:

14. I figured they'd be there for damage control
This is a "conspicuous by their absence" deal. Frankly, I'm glad they aren't there.

Larry Johnson is really controlling himself. Seems like he could blow his stack if he let it rip.

4. Rockefeller's opening statement was good.
Concerned that leak involves WH aide or high official.

Harkin's statement ok.

Graham beginning his statement now. A smart guy who can talk it.

Larry Johnson ex-CIA is on panel, and Jim M?, also ex-CIA. They appeared on CNN this am, talking bout this ain't going away, and its bad serious.
I expect today and tonight the media rounds will continue.

18. Jim Marcinkowski 1986-1989 CIA
Why is there even a question whether leaking Plames name is wrong? This is the first time in history that this has EVER happened. Incalculable damage from the leak.

It was deliberate. The release was deliberate and done for a purpose.

Media...Senior official knew the working of the media. Placed lives at risk.

Get at the heart of what was BEFORE a common standard..this was Bad!

20. Marcinkowski says
There has been alot of damage done. The media says act itself was not deliberate, how can that be, it was deliberate. How did he become a senior White House when he could let it out, how did he not know how serious it was. basic ground rules were not keep it was not an accident, put lives at risk. This must be dealt with non partisan. What harm is following from this leak.

What happens to the intelligence community? Did they change their assessment of the Iraq situation? Were they pressured to give info to support war?

Cannistrano 27 yr. CIA....Analyst Chief...

Raised doubts in young peoples minds about joining CIA.

Can we protect our agents?
She was outed by a vindictive act.

CIA was not providing info to support the war...that's why she was outed.

Cannistraro....

VP....first time in history to have a Vice President go to CIA and sit down with desk level employees.

CIA won't tell VP to take a hike.

They ARE pressured.

Analyst said what they thought was true and this is what behind the outing of a CIA agent.

Wow! These guys are PISSED!

you do so at your own detriment.

Harkin...We need to do something different here. Is there some way for information to be gotten without it being politicized.

Cannistraro...

VP Cheney and Lewis Libbie....visited CIA...VP insisted CIA wasn't looking for a link to Al Queda HARD ENOUGH.

Their mantra was.."you're not going to find anything if you don't know what you're looking for."

We DID know what we were looking for.

35. Because OSP is where the High Treason took place
and got us into this war. Everyone is treading softly around this because this is Pandora's Box.

The OSP was having regular meetings with Sharon's counterpart group. This is where the high treason comes in - sharing and manipulating US intelligence with a foreign government.

Boykin making remarks about Islam...you're giving ammo for all Islamic terrorists to attack.

Larry Johnson....

Terrorism...hype...the rhetoric..if true, why are we not having attacks every day? every month?

"The war on terroism is the greatest threat since the civil war." Gen. Meyers

16,000 deaths from terrorist. This is not the Soviet Union with Nuclear Weapons.

He is saying the administration has exaggerated the terrorism threat.

30. Now going after Boykin-like rhetoric as causing more problems
And Johnson's questioning how the adminstration is characterizing terrorism as the greatest threat to America since the Civil War. He disagrees and asks why Congress isn't asking why the admin is saying this when we haven't had terror attacks on some regular basis. (My paraphrasing)

This transcript will be priceless to study.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm going to write to the Annenberg School at U Pa and ask what the point was. Most of the people had never even heard of most of the Dem candidates, yet they were asked to talk about how they felt about them. The least they could have done was screen a debate for them...

Are your views so radical you are not to be believed? Levin...asked

They said No...

Intelligence committee chairman has refused to review how the intelligence was used.

Uranium case...analysts didn't cave. 16 words were deceptive. British connection was used. We didn't believe it ourselves. Policy makers found a way to make that impression.

Whew!

You know people who were pressured...contacted by chairman of committee? Were they pressured?

Cannistraro
Yes I know people..have to ask them to release their names.

Johnson...same thing...

Rockefeller..

It is improper for AG to conduct investigation...and people who work for him
Is that the proper way to find out who outed Plame?

Marcinkowski...needs to be put in context. there will always be question...was a fair job done?

Johnson.....A specila prosecutor should be used what's good for the goose is good for the gander. He agreed with having a SP in Clinton
administration.

Cannistraro.. Ashcroft
Should recuse himself from investigation.

It's over....The End.
