In other words, it sounds like the PNAC is starting to cut and run. I do believe Realpolitick is right.

Yes, Gaffeney is the head of the Center for Security Policy, and he's definitely a PNAC'er.

What if the PNAC is trying to do the takedown, sacrificing some of their own in the process? It fits right in with Realpolitik's brilliant analysis. Whichever way it is, it feels like a HUGE power struggle, and one that won't just slip to the back pages of the newspaper.

And yeah, I don't think any of it bodes well for Democrats. It almost sounds as if they're completely ignored in the process, and the New New World Order v 2.0 will be decided without any regard to Democrats.

Wake up, Democratic congresspeople! Do something!

More questions: who pointed Justice in the right direction? Was it career Justice people and their career friends at the FBI? Surely Ashcroft and Mueller had nothing to do with it.

8. This should be THE BIG ONE. We'll see.

This may be the biggest story of the year, if it gets the traction it deserves, so I'm bumping it up.

Summary of what is known so far:

-Karl Rove and Grover Norquist are dear friends. Rove attends Norquist's weekly policy meeting where they decide how to take over the world, a la Pinky and the Brain.

-Grover Norquist founded the Islamic Institute

-The Islamic Institute received seed money from Abdurahman Alamoudi.

-Abdurahman Alamoudi is a vocal supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah

-Alamoudi’s Palm Pilot included the names and numbers of six designated global terrorists

-Alamoudi recruited the tranlators at Gitmo who have been arrested for stealing secrets. Apparently CIA interrogation logs were stolen and given to the Saudis.

-Alamoudi met with Karl Rove in the White House in 2001.


Also of interest is that Frank Gaffeney of PNAC fame is apparently orchestrating a takedown of Grover Norquist. There's the catty correspondence, but I'm wondering if it was time to make Norquist and Rove and possibly even Bush into sacrificial lambs. Purely speculation on my part, but there's definitely something going on.

Let's add to this list. Let's build a timeline. Let's look at motive (e.g., why was Norquist so interested in starting an Islamic foundation in the first place? One could hypothesize that if LIHOP is true, the White House needs to have a way to get in touch with their Al Qaeda buddies).

PNAC has stated its displeasure with Rumsfeld and the Chimp administration for bungling the colonization of Iraq. They are likely annoyed that the Iraq debacle has put the seven nations campaign has been put on hold for the near future.

Further, PNAC has a natural reason to dislike Rove as he blocked PNACoid efforts to have the armed forces march directly into Syria as part of the same offensive thrust that captured Iraq.

The GOP has been interested in securing the vote of the growing Islamic population for quite some time. Norquist's involvement was likely part of the ongoing attempt to secure the support of a demographic group that isn't shrinking. Chances are, the people on the GOP side of the fence were too busy drooling over getting new voters to look very closely at just what was going on behind the scenes in the Islamic leadership groups run by the GOP's good friends in the House of Saud.

I read that he had pursued the Arab American community to try to convince leaders to convince their constituents that the conservative values of Islam matched those of the Republicans.

I think Norquist was trying to set up another sort of politicization of religion to pull automatic republican voters in the way Robertson had been able to do with the Christian Coalition.

Imo, it was about trying to create a 'super majority' (through various constituencies) for the GOP that would make the dominance in Washington impentrable. He is part of the freemarket neo-cons - who sees the value of manipulating the social conservatives to get them to convince their constituents that the two are one in the same.

Nothing, imo, has been more effective in recent years for the right than the ability to merge religion and politics at the most local level - getting preaching from the pulpit to match Jesus to the GOP to the point where voting for a democrat is likened to voting for Satan. I think Norquist was trying to do more of the same in the Muslim community.

arrests at Gitmo, I thought it was Asscroft persecuting muslims. And, I'm so cynical about these "squatters in the WH" that I don't trust or believe anything they do.

The really sickening thing is that when Alamoudi contributed to Cynthia McKinney's campaign, it was played up as "McKinney Ties to Terrorism"! Alamoudi's group supported Bush in 2000! And this attack on McKinney was after Bush had invited Alamoudi of all people to represent Muslims at the National Cathedral ceremony right after Sept. 11 (on Sept. 15, I believe, the one that ended with the Battle Hymn of the Republic, the launching of the Crusade).
