1. Can't wait till 2004
when Al Franken starts his program on a new liberal talk radio network. You know what they say about payback ;)

15. Is it really going to happen??
I keep hearing about a "liberal" Rush coming, but I personally haven't read anything to confirm such. Still a lot of idle chatter. But as a liberal, I wouldn't even listen to Al Franken. I can't stand the guy and I think he puts a horrible face on liberalism in general. I would prefer a spokesperson more along the lines of Al Gore or Mario Cuomo. I'd even listen to Jim Hightower again before I listen to Al Franken.

16. sorry TKP, but I must disagree with you.
Al Franken is just the person liberals need. We need somebody with a little backbone and is not afraid to get in the face of these wingnuts. While I would also listen to Gore, Cuomo and Hightower, Franken would be the best of the lot.

19. Why not get them all?
A liberal network (I assume) would not be all Al Franken all the time. There is room for a variety of liberal voices. The Democratic party has a big-ass umbrella... so should a liberal network.

BTW, I'd listen to Franken. He may not be the most eloquent spokesman for the left; he may even, in fact, be shrill. But he cracks me up, and he's pretty knowledgable. More power to him.

17. Franken talked about it on Leno, and it was on PBS
Jon Sinton has been hired by some wealthy Democrats. They've put up more than $20 million to start a liberal radio talk network they hope will tap a largely unserved audience.
-----
He says liberal talk radio failed in the past because people won't tune in to a liberal on a conservative talk station any more than they'll tune in for rock 'n roll on a country music station.
------
So, Sinton's network will offer liberal programming 24/7, with an emphasis on humor and satire.

Al Franken, the comedian, will be one of his headliners.

I think it's suppose to be ready around the time of the primaries or something.

2. No hmmmm there ...
Snow used to be one of rush's guest hosts for a while - he gave it up when it put his "objectivity" in doubt with the FNC.

3. Great News!
if it is true that Tony Snow is leaving FAUX.

Tony is challenging because he has a sing-song voice, is smooth and uses humor to slap his opponents. Brit is more stern, and gets very pontificating. IMO is not as effective - or is more obviously partisan.

Tony Snow is more like Paul Begala -- One of Paul's greatest gifts is his delivery. That, and his laser like recall of particular facts.

I'd rather see Tony on AM radio than the TV.

5. Considering how he expounded on the lies that the Clinton
staff vandalized the White House and Air Force One on their exit, I'd say that Snow is qualified for the position.

9. Its funny how that one little lie turned into a fact
To most conservatives. Now, to even hint that it might not be entirely true turns you into a "lying liberal commie asshole".

But that is how conservatives do things. They get their talking points out there, just making shit up as they go along, and then they all repeat the same lies until it finally seems true, and gets accepted as truth.

13. And as long as Democrats have front men like Chris Matthews stifling
Democratic dissent, Democrats will never be able to counter the right-wing's tactic of spreading disinformation.

7. He lies as well, and seems more sincere in his hatred, but he's boring
I've never believed Rush has a solid political ideology so much as a pure hatred of anything that bothers him. He started out as a Reagan worshipper, and took most of his positions just to shock people. There's no consistent ideology behind him, just a gut reaction of hatred.

Snow is not any smarter, but his ideology is a little more pure. A little less whorish. He still lies with the best of them (I once heard him try to head of W womanizing charges by telling a story of a staffer that Bush turned down in the 70s. Thing is, he told it so badly you could tell he was lying, which probably meant W did sleep with the staffer. Those were his "chasing pussy" years, I guess.), and his hatred is just as pronounced. But being a true believer, he is less flexible, and more boring, and would have a much smaller audience within a year than Rush does. Rush gets a lot of casual listeners who-- like him-- don't understand politics, but just think he's amusing. I think Rush may lose some of those now with his exposure as a fraud.

So Snow would be good for us.

8. one more conservative weight
i completely agree that i'd much rather hear his lies on tv then watch them being spit from his face on FO News....
i think that the only time i say hmmmm on this matter is upon the realization of one more far right winger weighing down our media with their bullshit. if liberal media could be obtained, i'd be first in line to support it. these good-looking sleaze talking conservatives scare me.

10. SNOWjob Is "Loose"Enough, But Bet on O'REILLY
Setting aside LIMBOsevic's total obnoxiousness, and addressing ONLY broadcasting talent, he is "loose" and therefore entertaining strictly on that level in a way that none of the other wingnut jerks are: NORTH, HANNITY, LIDDY, et al, which makes them unwatchable/unlistenable-to. O'REILLY and SNOWjob have SOME of the looseness, while still being hemmed-in by their ideology. Not to say that LIMBOsevic is not fenced in by ideology, just that there is an element of unpredictability that the others don't have. I'm still betting that O'WHORELY benefits the most from the career demise of LIMBOsevic.

14. Liz SMITH Calls O'Whorely a "Crybaby"
******QUOTE*****

http://www.nypost.com/gossip/liz.htm

DOUBLEDAY Broadway Publishing has had to go back to press four times to meet the demand for Bill O'Reilly's latest best seller, "Who's Looking Out for You?" This is O'Reilly's third consecutive No. 1 New York Times best seller. Good for Bill, who reigns supreme at Fox News Channel. Now, if only he'd stop talking about all the people who are out to "get" him. Brickbats haven't hurt him a whit. In fact, they've probably helped. (Just as his nemesis, Al Franken, benefited from being sued by Fox!)

Crybabies - conservative or liberal - are not appealing. Nobody's feeling too sorry for the rich and powerful Mr. O'Reilly and if he'd think about it, I'm sure he doesn't want sympathy for dishing it out professionally.

11. What a hack!
He occasionally shows up in our local paper. The high point of his "journalistic" offerings was when he took on Hillary and her autobiography.

He admitted right off the bat that he hadn't read it, and then proceeded to maunder on for paragraph after paragraph about how it was just a pack of lies.

It was truly a breathtaking exhibition of media whoredom.

12. SNOWjob to Have David LIMBO in the 1 P.M. EST Hour
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 11:13 AM by UTUSN
With typical wingnut hypocrisy, SNOWjob opened by saying what a pleasure AND AN HONOR it was to be back at the golden EIB mic. Yaas, a wingnut junkie bestows HONOR, unlike the hoi polloi type junkie. The David guesting is to give an update on LIMBOsevic.
