Why WHIG? If war was essential for our preservation there would be no need

To sell it to the American People... Just the idea that they needed WHIG or there would be no war. WHIG was there to sell the war (their words not mine) to the people. What does history have to say about an Administration forming a whole independent Whitehouse group to sell a war? What other Administrations have done such a thing? I don't know but I suspect this would be the first time..This question should not go away...Why WHIG?
