Congress First---Impeachment later
Before We can Impeach bush we must retake congress. So, all of us should learn about the Congressional elections in our area, and do whatever we can to help democratic candidates.

The DU election 2006 research forum is a great way to learn who the candidates are in your area, and what you can do to help.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=358

So I urge you all; find out who the democratic candidates are in your area, call them, and find out what you can do to help.

If we really want to defeat Bush, we must first defeat the Republicans in Congress!!!!!!!!!

4. I don't think that
is an accurate or fair interpretation of the post. I believe the point was that the two issues are not separate, and that it would be an error to put one on hold.

work to retake congress at the same time. Impeachment is only practical if we have control of congress. The current repug congress, and its trend to go in lock-step with the Bush White House, doesn't make impeachment seem likely. We must PLAN FOR THE WORST.

8. We must mount a powerful display of people power first. I do not trust
either party to do anything substantial without that first component. We sure as hell can't wait around until 2006 so congress might do something. That is unrealistic.

That is one example. But we must take to the streets often to do all we can to drive out the Bush regime.

9. Talk about spineless democrats
Dammit, it is a time for some fierceness. We need to bend every ear to the necessity of bringing this dipshit war criminal to trial and out of office and if Congress does not do its job, which it clearly hasn't, we need to make the case for removing them too, which I happen to be for down to the last one.

Impeachment needed to happen three years ago and the it should be an unceasing call, just like the prosecution of George Bush even after he is out of office.

Now maybe you do not think that the people lack representation in our government but I do and the fact that impeachment has not happened is the big red light that Congress is not about representing the people.

We are a fascist country, at least too fascist for me.

10. Election work must include work on fairness and transparency
The issues about disenfranchisement and privatized voting systems cannot be ignored by any campaign that wants to win elections. In some states, voters have the right to vote by paper ballot even where electronic machines are available. Yet when those ballots are counted by voting machines with secret ("proprietary") software, they will not necessarily be counted as cast.

As you prepare to work on the 2006 elections, get to know the issues about election integrity if you haven't yet done so. Visit the Election Reform forum on DU. People there can help. And make sure your candidates know that if they're declared to be losers they must not concede until analysis of the election can be done. Check out USCountVotes for more info about this.
