Wolf Blitzer blows off President Carter interview for Texas brush fire.
Wolf Blitzer blew off an interview this afternoon with Jimmy Carter over Bush's illegal, unconstitutional, and impeachable wiretaps of American citizens in favor of another LOCAL NEWS STORY - brush fires in Texas and Oklahoma.

This is especially egregious because the Republican news-liars have been spinning that Carter and Clinton did the same as Bush when in fact they did not. Both Carter and Clinton specifically prohibited spying on Americans in their orders but these sentences were intentionally left out by Drudge and others in their lying.

Once again, like the string of missing blonde, white women; plane problems; and disappearing cruise ship tourists, a local story has been taken and blown up out of all proportion and made a national issue more important than democracy, a constitutional government, and a would be dictatorship in the United States.

Please write Wolf and ask him what happened to the Jimmy Carter story and demand that he interview both Carter and Clinton on this.

Why is Larry King doing fluff interviews on a long dead pop idol (Rick Nelson - who cares?)tonight? Why can't they get Carter and Clinton on for a change?

1. Wolf doesn't make his schedule, the producer does...
Wolf would be "journalist" if he had any controlled his show, but he's not, so he doesn't. He just does/says what he's told. Wolf has about as much legitimacy as a 4th grade 2 page report on Christopher Columbus.

11. If 'Wolf' had any legitimacy at all...
he would be telling the producers what is a 'hot' story right now. So... what does he do? Cave to the network and blame 'producers' for pre-empting' his show. Back during 'shock and awa' he could do no wrong. Why the change? His viewpoints no longer agree with the big bosses?

3. They'll always do this
"When it bleeds, it leads."

American "news" is so dysfunctional that all you get anymore- especially on the local stations- is who's been shot (or some other part of the crime blotter- in other states) what's burned down- and the weather report 5 times an hour.

Worthless.

4. Nothing was bleedin'
Nobody had died. Just a couple houses going up in smoke. That's not national news. That MIGHT be local news if you live in a small enough city.

6. I turned CNN off more than a year ago because of these types
of obscuring of the real issues with trash and sensationalism. Do yourself a favor and do the same. As long as they are getting letters both favorable and unfavorable they know you are watching. When the feedback stops and the ratings go down, then you will see something done, but not before.

9. Disagree with this tactic...
If they don't get negative feedback, they think they are doing everything right. They don't judge ratings from feedback. Neilson-Arbitron is how they judge ratings.

I say write the jackasses and let them know you want real news.

Ted Turner (founder of CNN) made a similar complaint about it within the last year.

12. I had done that for years, since Ted was gone, writing
almost daily and seldom getting the courtesy of even a brief acknowledgement. In those years the coverage has gotten worse and more right wing than ever so I don't think complaining works.

7. this week they've been doing re-runs of interviews Wolf has done
as Wolf has the week off.

it originally aired 11/04
transcript is here:
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0511/04/sitroom.01.html

I'm guessing their editorial policy is that reruns of interviews have low priority if there is any breaking news, even if it's just brush fires.

8. Anytime Jimmy Carter speaks.
Anytime Jimmy Carter speaks it is important even if it is a rerun. It would be more relevant than any prairie fire.

10. OK... if this was a rerun they should have said so...
I was under the impression they were bringing him on to discuss the wiretaps.

13. Hate to seem like a whiner but I LIVE in those brush fire areas
and, since it was rehashed, reruns anyway, I was happy to see the areas all around the DFW area that were blazing right at that point. They weren't just little brush fires that were contained in some way. The wind was, up until about 6:30 blowing and going, and when I walked outside a bit ago I could smell smoke and see it in the horizon from 2 different directions.

Now I could give a hoot about missing white women but most of the time the disaster stuff leaves me cold but this is one time I was glad to see it.

15. Former U-boat captain Wolf Blitzkrieg
eats fascist feces and fears people like Carter. Carter would ave given Volf an ass kicking.
