...And I bet he has cable
Edited on Sat Dec-24-05 05:00 PM by bo44
I was explaining the state of labor negotiations in my school district to a long time friend. He is corporate manager. He lives well. When I told him how badly fucked classified workers and some teachers were as a result of our district imposing a 200 buck a month increase in health care without any type of pay increase with another five hundred a month increase to come in June 2006. The header to this post was his response. He shut the fuck up after I told him the custodian at my school collects cans and bottles so he can eat a cup a noodles a day home. Until recently the only furniture he had in his condo was his bed and a lawn chair. He doesn't have cable. He has a thrift store tv and vcr and borrows tapes from his friends for viewing. Motherfuck the party of Greedy Old Prikkks for reinforcing the notion that working people do not deserve a pension or even a living wage.

1. The Welfare Queen meme was a stroke of genius
(even though we all know it was a myth). The Repubs have worked the resentment of the masses to push through policies that will wind up hurting most of them.

2. "...public pensions are killing us financially"
Another heartfelt sentiment from my cold hearted friend. Who, by the way has a mom collecting a public pension and a dad who for 40 years wrenched on diesels for an ag products hauler.

3. Well, his mom doesn't count. It's all those OTHER people who are
no-good scum. :sarcasm: :banghead: I swear, some of these people can't get the point even after it gets rammed up their own butts.

5. Republicans are adament that no federal "handouts" go to the poor
But they never flinch at government subsidies of large corporations.

6. According to some Republicanites, poor people shouldn't even have TVs
or any other amusements. They get bent out of shape if poor people who use food stamps buy candy or cigarettes (for which they're not using the food stamps).

John Stossel was even ragging on some recipients of free butter and cheese because they had VCRs. Uh, John, get a clue. You can buy a VCR for almost nothing these days, and even a functioning DVD player for about $40. We're not talking 44" home theater here.

According to Republicans, poor people should not only have to do disagreable jobs for little money but also just sit around doing nothing (except possibly working a second job) during their off hours.
