Be Patient DUers! The Daschel Revelation is < 24 Hours Old Yet
Look how long it took the DSM to get traction. Months! But now we have at least a Censure + Congressional Investigation of the Manipulation of Prewar Intel by the Bush Admin (including Republican backing). The Dems had to SHUT DOWN Congress to get it done, but they DID IT.

SPYGATE has just been given a HUGE BOOST by Daschel, but it will still take time. By Mid-Summer this thing will be the only thing talked about (Bar another Terrorist attack or Natural Disaster). This TREASON will not go quietly into the night.

Give it time, be persistent, and stick to the key points:

Bush was DENIED the authority to SPY ON U.S. Citizens.

He did it any way under SECRECY.

Someone blew the whistle.

Bush admitted it ON THE RECORD.

There has never been a clearer case for TREASON.

We must keep the pressure up on the Abramoff scandals and the corruption of the republican mob. Fitzgerald is FAR FROM DONE on his investigation. This administration will be brought to justice.

3. The Bushbot arguments aren't getting any traction that I can see
See if you can find the Andrea Mitchell clip (I think C&L has it). The "Clinton did it" argument isn't working for them. Plus, every other Corporate Media outlet I've watched isn't letting them get away with "Congress gave him authority," either. The Daschle contribution is just one more bit of damning evidence.

4. It's not appearing anywhere.
Not even on the front of yahoo--usually one of the first mainstream news outlets to pick up this sort of story. It's being buried for Christmas.

Don't think we're going to hear much until Christmas is over. But you never know.

6. Impeachable, but not treason
Treason implies an attempt to advance the interests of another group at the expense of America. There is an element of betrayal involved, and I think that would be difficult to establish here. Hmmm ... Plamegate approaches treason ... betrayal of national interest to further the political ambitions of the Republican Party.

However, if it is ever established that this was but a part of a systematic effort to usurp the Constitution, I would probably have to revise my opinion.

It is more likely (given what we can firmly establish now) that this is merely another example of Bushista imperial arrogance ... in any case it seems to be a violation of established law. I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed throwing the "rule of law" riff back in the face of my right wing acquaintances and relatives in recent days.

And when I say, as they did back when the issue was Clinton's apparent perjury, the question is, "Will we continue to have rule of law or not?", they get very quiet and uncomfortable. I would push that meme, rather than the possible hyperbole (and much hard to swallow) treason line.

11. Don't forget: He pressured the NYT to not print the story, & they agreed.
He pressured the NYT to not print the story over a year ago before the election, and they agreed.
