Amen to what you said, texpatriot2004.

I can't believe Alaska's politicians are so careless with their state's natural heritage.

    14. There is no 're-vote' right now .. a motion to reconsider is pending.
A vote on the motion to reconsider would have to be scheduled... and if it passes then the reconsideration itself (a vote on cloture) would take place. It's highly unlikely.

    7. For the moment
Just because Stevens said he would remove the ANWR language if there was no cloture doen't mean it will happen.

    13. It'll be posted to the Senate site tomorrow, I think.
The Senate has been a bit slower on web posting votes than the House.

    15. Senate rejects oil drilling in Alaska wildlife refuge
An amendment offered by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-California, to strip away the provision passed 52-48.

The eight Republicans who voted against oil development were Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, both of Maine; Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island; Gordon Smith of Oregon; Mike DeWine of Ohio; Peter Fitzgerald of Illinois; John McCain of Arizona, and Coleman.

    11. If he doesn't take it out...
It will be easy to filibuster for the rest of the day, resulting in no more votes and nothing else passing before they adjourn and go home. Senators, even nuts like Stevens, follow through when they promise stuff like this.

If he doesn't, the failure to even vote on the defense bill before adjourning will be attributed to him breaking his word (except at Fox News, of course).
