Why so many deaths all of a sudden?

Jack Anderson, John Spencer, William Proxmire, Gene McCarthy, Richard Pryor...

The winter often sees a rise in the number of deaths, with people staying inside and so forth. But I don't recall this happening last year. I mean, Reggie White and Jerry Orbach died around the time the tsunami hit, but I don't think that was related.

One thing I will say is that I'm guessing once Proxmire heard that McCarthy died, he just gave up. Remember that Gaylord Nelson had also died this year.

He was a terrific actor. And now that John Spencer's gone, I'll never watch the WW the same way again.
